George Harrison would’ve been 67 today had lung cancer not taken him in 2001. I join millions of others in a love for the Beatles, but George has always been my favorite. Maybe because he was the “quiet Beatle,” but most definitely because of his collaborations with best friend and *ahem* my musical crush, Eric Clapton, as well as his guitar sound. In the early 70’s, Harrison had said that he was only allowed one or two songs per album, and that it would’ve taken many, many more Beatles albums before he could showcase all that he had written. So, when the band decided to break up (in his opinion, at no fault of Yoko Ono) he was ready to do his own thing.
I’ve put together a new playlist of some of my favorites that he either wrote, sang or was involved with somehow, so if you’re a fan, go take a listen. It is really very good stuff.
If drjay were here and not off yoga-ing in the “Rich Coast,” he could give me a lesson in George Harrison 101…which reminds me…today is drjay’s birthday, too!

Thank you to a fun guy of the yogi sort for this post title, which, as it happens, was inspired by one of his *ahem* jokes in comments here. I am simply h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e with post titles. If you happen to come across a good one here, it was most likely begged from W or, as in this case, inspired by a blog friend.
Oh, by the way, this is just a bunch of fun guys I found hanging out on an old tree stump in the forest. Hee…”fun guys”…love that. Okay, so it doesn’t take much to amuse me.

This big ole “thank you” is way over moo, uh, due…
While I was recently out of town, I was floored, tickled pink, high as a kite, blown away and just overall beside myself (all emotions I exhibited in the local Wendy’s while taking advantage of their free wifi, mind you) to see that I was one of the first-time recipients of The Highly Prestigious Yoga for Cynics Floating Glowing Being of Pure Love Award, presented by none other than The Highly Prestigious Cynical Yogi of the Interwebz himself, drjay, of Yoga for Cynics fame. Yeah, that’s right, F-A-M-E. He was mentioned in a big time yoga magazine back in August, ya know…Yoga Journal. For real, folks.
Why so touched? Well, I have yet to open my copy of Light on Yoga, much less attempt the practice, and compared to the average commenter on his blog of awesome enlightenment, I’m about as deep as a puddle, unlike his other lustrous recipients, whose comments are often as interesting reads as drjay’s posts. In other words, I’m not worthy. But I’m gonna take it anyway. And run really fast. So there. Thank ya, drjay.
By the way, Elsie up there is another one of Lucy’s new friends from them thar hills.

As the morning sun streams in, Lucy waits patiently in the kitchen doorway for a breakfast morsel. She will sit as long as it takes, inching closer as her patience wears thin. Such hope lies in those eyes…
