This is the same great blue heron that I photographed here, at Brenman Park. The poor thing flew off three or four times, landing on different sides of the pond while trying to escape me and the camera. Here, he’s hunkered down against the wind, preparing for take-off…again. Annoying humans.

A blue heron, seen yesterday at Brenman Park, the same place that the great egret was seen a year and a half ago.

Sunset over the frozen pond at Brenman Park in Alexandria, Virginia. The only sounds that could be heard were the wind, an occasional train whistle and Lucy’s incessant barking while in the dog park.
