Here’s Lucy, the huntress, waiting to pounce on the next creepy crawly or field mouse. Mice…not quite rats, but still…ick.

You might think that Lucy’s sleeping off exhaustion from her recent house guests, but, nooo…she’s like this most of the time. Her favorite sofa, which now resides in the dining area, was replaced by this one, and yes, our house now looks like a consignment shop. So, come on over and pick yourself up an odd piece or two of furniture, however, keep yer paws off that sofa… . August 12th, 2010
At Lucy’s slurp-a-thon the other day, she went for a second drink and was noticeably distracted. Turns out that big Oliver and little Brady (whom she’d never met before) were waiting in the wings, just as interested in her as she seemed to be in them. As is her usual when meeting others, she laid in wait and played hard to get. Other dog owners assume from this behavior that Lucy might be shy, even afraid, but little do they know. Lucy likes to draw her victims in close to her before she breaks into puppy behavior…arms splayed out in front of her, hindquarters in the air and a shrill bark. On this day, though, it was too hot for shenanigans and the highly hot-and-bothered Lucy just got up and walked away. Sorry, Oliver and Brady…maybe next time when the princess is not so fur-klempt. Wow…look at Lucy! Only a week ago she was drinking out of cupped hands, but practice makes perfect, and she now drinks from the fountain all on her own. (Actually, it only took her one jump to get the hang of it.) It never occurred to me that this might disgust some, but there was a segment on pet etiquette on one of the morning shows, and the host mentioned letting your dog drink from a public fountain. She found that disgusting, but the guest answered that there are some humans she finds more disgusting who drink from the same fountains, so it didn’t bother her at all. I’m with her.
