Speckled with today’s snow flurries, here I am with my first finished knitting project, which I wrote about here. It didn’t turn out too badly, but I’ve strategically hidden the poorly sewn seam in the back, and there’s an incorrect stitch right up there in front. And that frilly edge on top? I cast on too loosely, so it now only fits well frilly side up.

Next project? Hmmm, maybe another one of these as I need the practice and can never have too many headbands. They’re kinda my trademark winter wear, and I may be wearing them well into spring around here!

Well, my first knitting project is underway, and I’m sending a huge thank you to my bloggy buddy Bird for suggesting that I take a look at ravelry.com. It’s a great online community for knitters and crocheters—which right off made me wonder—what am I doing there? I am neither communicable nor a knitter. Okay, so maybe I can get the knitting part down… Anyway, I found a free pattern for an easy project—something that I wear every single day in cold weather. I’ll keep it under wraps until it’s finished (and I know all of you are holding your breath here), although at this pace, I’ll be forced to model it for this blog in 100 degree weather.

And I made the mistake of telling my mother, the crafter extraordinaire, that I’ve finally started a project. Now, each night when I talk to her I hear, Have you knitted anymore?…Have you knitted anymore?…Have you knitted any more?… She will be thrilled if it turns out that I’ve inherited her knitting gene…which is unlikely, as I’ve just broken the tip off of the needle trying to get that blue rubber thingy off the end. I am not kidding. Damn.
