Hi everyone. Holly’s not back yet. Hopefully, she will be back next week. Things are going okay, but she just needs to spend a little more time with her family. She misses all of you and thanks you for coming by. She will respond to all your comments when she returns.
In the meantime, I will put up a few more posts for Holly. Please drop by. I’ll try not to disappoint.

Okay, maybe it’s not that big, but I was on a roll with the alliteration. It could’ve been worse – “Big Blue Butterfly Bench Bolted Beside Bush.” Don’t get me started.
This was taken on another of Lucy’s favorite walks at the Annandale Community Park in Annandale, Virginia. Lucy loves to stalk deer through the woods in this park.

Hi everyone. Sorry for skipping out with such late notice, but a family emergency has come up and I’ll be traveling to them thar hills to help out the folks. Before I leave I’ll try to schedule a few photos to post, so please stop by if you’d like. I’ll have no internet access while away, so I’ll respond to any comments when I return.
Lucy will be accompanying me on the trip, so maybe we can fit in some Lucy-in-the-country pics for posting when we return.
I’ll miss all your blogs, but will catch up with you in November…

This looked like a homemade sign, so it appears that somebody means business, but that somebody has it all wrong, me thinks. “Here lies the owner of the last dog…” is more apt. Until doggies learn to bag their own deposits, the job’s on us, their people, so we’re accountable. And yes, they should be curbed, but mistakes happen. I don’t think there’s a homeowner who wouldn’t excuse a logistical boo-boo as long as it was cleaned up.
Okay, so maybe I read too much into this. Argh.

I am long past due in giving thanks to the crafty Ann at Ann’s Snap, Edit & Scrap for this, my first French blog award–thank you, Ann! Ann’s blog is all about digital photography, photo editing, scrapbooking and anything else that happens to be on her mind. If you have the time, please stop by her place. She happens to be in the middle of a wedding photography project and is showing a few of her photos. Good going, Ann!
And I’m passing this on to the endearing Charity over at Thoughts…By Charity Joy Bell. Charity’s blog is abound with beautiful poetry and writings and is always a calm, reflective place. J’adore tien blog, Charity!

I have another big thank you for Svasti over at Svasti: A Journey From Assault To Wholeness. She has given Lucy’s new 2010 calendar a huge mention by placing it on her blog’s sidebar. This kind action goes above and beyond blogger friendship, I think, and Lucy and I appreciate the gesture. Thank you, Svasti!

The print, “Pallets, Tyre and Junk,” that I won in Mark’s drawing over at Highton-Ridley Fine Art Photography is here! Mounted and signed, it has a beautiful flat finish, very much like that of a charcoal drawing. Printed on fine art rag-based paper, it is mounted on a heavy weight mat board–a very high quality print. Nice work, Mark. Thank you!

Yay! We’ve won a drawing for an art print from Mark over at Highton-Ridley Fine Art Photography. Mark has some beautiful monochrome, as well as color, photography that is well worth seeing, and each month he has a drawing from those visitors who basically comment on his work. He’s made a few rule changes recently so you may want to check those out if you’re interested in being included in one of his drawings.
Mark has offered us August winners our choice from eight of his black & white prints, and the one I’ve chosen is “Pallets, Tyre and Junk.” While most of the other prints were of clean, sharp lines and orderly subjects—and of course, very nice—this one seemed more personal. Just random forgotten objects not looked upon with any interest, until Mark found them, that is. I’m a lover of old stuff, as well as nice black & white photography, so this one is for me. Thank you, Mark.
