Around here we’ve been waiting for cooler temps and crisper air, and it’s finally here…weather’s sweet spot. Before long we’ll be bracing for the other extreme. This photo was taken a few years ago, in January. Brrr.

Not looking for the key to the city, the red carpet, open arms or even approval…just acceptance. (And not from “up there,” as it may appear. Just pondering the next downpour.)

Yeah! Albeit a slow death, the highly discriminatory “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy officially drew its last breath at midnight. Hallelujah. How awful and wrong was it for our country to require some of its citizens to keep part of their selves under wraps as they laid their lives on the line for the rest of us? And how misguided that policy was…it quashed the rights of innocent service people in order to mollify the fearful and misinformed. Pictured is Lt. Dan Choi who, unfortunately, was discharged from military service during his fight to end DADT. Mission accomplished, Lt. Choi.
