Happy 4th Birthday, Lucy

Most of you know Lucy, but you may not know her beginnings. Unlike a lot of adopted doggies, Lucy never knew anything other than a warm and loving home. She came into the world under the care of her mom’s foster people, and they made sure that Lucy–then named “Cookie”–had everything that she needed. There’s Lucy, about one week old, atop her mom, Miko. We were told that she was the bossiest of the bunch, which doesn’t surprise us a bit. We still can’t believe that she was the last of her siblings to be adopted as she was the furriest and the sweetest…slept with her nose pointed downward on the floor. Her siblings, as it turned out, are all short-haired and look nothing like her. We are so lucky to have her.

  Aaaah, she’s so pretty and she was the most gorgeous puppy!! One of my dogs was a gift (I used to be an area leader for Avon and one of my sales team was breeding her Labrador) but the other we bought through an advert in the paper. We walked in and saw immediately she wasn’t the breed advertised but I picked her up and walked out, leaving my husband to pay. She was so neglected and abused that I certainly wasn’t leaving her there.

    Thanks, Emm. And aren’t those the best pups to adopt…the ones who need someone the most? I don’t understand how anyone can treat helpless ones–man or beast–like that. Hooray for you for giving your puppy a chance at a happy life! :o)

  so sweet, reminds me of our Ellie’s beginnings. I remember holding her for the very first time…just 3 weeks old…blue eyes and dark waves that would become full on poodle curls. I knew the moment she rested her tiny puppy head on my shoulder that no matter how cute her siblings were…she was gonna be our girl. Happy birthday Lucy!

    Thanks, Laura, and Lucy thanks you, too. Puppies are so hard to resist, especially when you’re ready to adopt and are actively looking. When we saw her siblings, we couldn’t believe that she was the only one left…she was a ball of fur when we adopted her at 10 weeks…so cute!
