Here are a few of my favorites from the national tree lighting ceremony on the Ellipse or President’s Park South this past Thursday. We were lucky to get seated tickets through the National Park Service’s lottery, but didn’t realize that there were two seated sections, and, unfortunately, we weren’t right up front. Ah well.
Go to my Facebook album if you’d like to see some of my other photos from the event.

Very nice shots. Too bad you didn’t have the great seats but at least you got some good pictures out of the deal.

Thanks, ann. I did take a few videos, one of which was President Obama (the size of a pea) being announced, taking the stage, talking, then lighting the tree, but, it’s kinda long, and I had to hold the camera up over my head for some time (annoying to those behind me, I’m sure). I may post it for those with a lot of patience.
That is one heck of a blue sky!

Isn’t it though? And the White House came out so…white! The stage lights behind me may’ve helped the lighting here.
how exciting to get to go!!! i know those will be great memories.

It was fun, but if I were to consider it next year, I’d need those up-front yellow tickets! I really need to go see Obama when he comes to one of the schools around here. Better chance to get a photo.
Beautiful blue sky! Looks cold out there.
Thanks! Yes, it was cold, and believe it or not, I was better prepared than W. He forgot his gloves and balaclava and “misjudged” on his jacket. :o) Ooops, sorry, I meant :o(
