This is my maternal grandmother’s chicken house in Eastern Kentucky. Bereft of chickens for decades, it is now home to a barbed-wire lasso and an old saddle, holding on for dear life to a swivel chair. Oh my, what would Grandma think… .

It’s the perfect place for a child’s adventure, full of treasures and stories.

It could be adventurous, though dangerous, too. No telling what’s hiding in there nowadays! In my grandmother’s day, it was just chickens.
Holly – Grandma would think – what a great photo! I love the reflection in the glass. The swivel chair is a nice thing to have in a chicken house – it makes it more comfortable for the chickens at night when they are watching tv or reading their ipads.

Thanks, me. I liked that reflection, too. And I bet some of the chickens like to practice their riding, too…you know, on the saddle. :o)

Thanks, Grace, and I like that reflection, too. It’s the hills on the other side of the road, which used to belong to my grandparents.
great shot. love that old saddle
charlane´s last blog post ..laughter 29-30
Thanks, charlane. I wish the saddle were more prominent in the photo, but it was a little too far away.
I’m betting Grandma wouldn’t think too much of the condition of the chicken coop but it sure made for a fantastic photo.

Thanks, ann, and I think you’re right…my grandmother would be saddened at its condition…would want her chickens back in there…
My mom had numerous little sheds like this on her property. My ex & I used them to raise all kinds of game birds. I think that was the only good thing about our relationship, really…

Wow…games birds…that’s interesting, Lana. Indeed, a good thing. :o)
Somebody should be very careful when they’re getting on that saddle . . . great shot!
Jennifer´s last blog post ..The stepchild
Ha! Thanks, Jennifer. It looks kinda small, too, so no chance of me getting on it…also, that would be trespassing… ;o)
Love this shot. It’s very intriguing. You can tell a lot of different story with this shot. Looking forward to more of your interesting pictures :)
Thanks, cheska…glad you like it…and thanks for stopping by to comment. Please come back. :o)
