This poor flower has been waiting in the wings for its day, but I had no idea what it was and didn’t want to title it simply “blue flower” (though I had no qualms naming my previously unidentified mushroom simply “feathery fungi”). Oh, contrary me! Thanks to my procrastinatin’ nature, though, I was easily diverted while reading comments on yesterday’s peony post. Mentioning that he had also posted a similar flower awhile ago, I dug up Dr. Jay’s post, which I kinda remembered…and holy cow…yes, that was one sweet peony! Noticing that it was a bit different from mine, I took a trip through the Goog, hoping for better identification…and happened to come across none other than my no-name blue flower. So, there ya go…Love-In-A-Mist or Nigella damascena, a member of the buttercup family.
So, thank you, Dr. Jay, for unwittingly bringing this flower’s name to light and its photo out of the dusty files. Love-in-a-mist sounds so much nicer than blue flower, eh?

I don’t think I have ever seen one before (yeah, like I’m a flower expert – NOT) but it is very pretty!
Grace´s last blog post ..My take on the current political scene
This is the first time I’d seen one, too, Grace. I’m awful at flower identification, but the park where I took this has most of their plants labeled…this one wasn’t.
That has got to be one of the prettiest pictures I’ve ever seen. It’s name “Love in a mist” suits it to a t.

Thanks, ann. Blue and green are my favorite colors, so I especially like this one. Glad you like it. :o)

Those are absolutely beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing. How big are those blooms? Hard to tell scale in the photo…

Thanks, Lana, and as I remember, they’re about the size of a daisy, maybe a little smaller.

These look awesome :-) almost edible me thinks!
Thanks, ruairi. I think the seeds are edible…but better double-check that in case you come across one and want to cook with it!

So glad you like these, Emm. You might be able to grow them…Chrissy does and she’s in the UK…though I’m not sure how close you are. Need a geography lesson!
This looks like some sort of punk-rocker flower, the bad-ass of the flower world.
Well, thanks, FFMag. We’ll take that as a compliment, and thanks for stopping by.
How ’bout “trippy blue flower”?
