So, when was the last time you sat on a bench and took in your surroundings?
A little different from my bench photos here and here, this one has a human element with an added display of young love—I’m assuming. These two are sitting on a bench along the perimeter of Ford’s Landing in Old Town Alexandria. It was a beautiful Saturday, and the young guy appears to be pointing out to his friend areas of interest on the Maryland side of the Potomac River.
A view of some Old Town homes from Ford’s Landing can be seen here.

Stop teasing Holly – ya know around here people actually have park benches chained to their houses. Don’t know why. Certainly don’t want to be sitting on a bench gazing at streets full of garbage and dilapidated houses . I miss Alexandria – more than I miss NYC…(And who thought they would ever live to see that day that I said that?)

Holy cow…so there’s a big demand for benches up there, huh? Geesh. I know you’ve probably written about this before, but why don’t you move? I’m sure that Alexandria (or NYC) would be glad to have you back. Come on down, Grace!
From the angle I was looking at this the pair on the bench are more or less just a silhouette. I got up to get a drink and when I came back I saw the picture from a different angle and realized he has his arm around her.

Did you also think that the silhouette looked a little like Prez Obama? As a kid? Okay, maybe it’s just me, then. :o)

Ha! At least you didn’t tag “again” at the end of your comment…’cause I’ve seen your blog…and you ARE young! *ahem*…me, too. :o)
i do love sitting and people watching – beautiful capture of young love
charlane´s last blog post ..its friday and i love a list
I like sitting and watching people, too, charlane. Doesn’t matter where, either. I think people are interesting no matter where you are.
My last time was actually just the other day, at the new State Park in my area (see my latest post.) The older (& more out of shape,) I get, the better friends benches & I become. *L*
Lana´s last blog post ..New State Park
Oooh, you have a new park! Preserved land is always good…that’s great. And I know what you mean about being better friends with the benches…despite what I wote to ruairi! :o)
Fascinating black and white…I thought they were looking out on a field at first…
YogaforCynics´s last blog post ..still clear quiet space
Thanks much, drjay, and yeah, I see the “field.” Both the water and sky were a beautiful blue, but I just preferred b&w…maybe ’cause of the lack of detail.
