The center of a lotus blossom in bloom…
It’s been pretty busy around here, but Lucy and I will be back to our ball-chasing, nostalgia-rousing selves soon. I do see…feel, rather…that our heat wave here has broken, if for only a few days. It’s definitely back-to-school weather, and I’m feelin’ an urge to slip into a pair of saddle oxfords and dig out a woolly sweater… .

That’s kind of interesting – that light green circle in the center – what is that?

That’s the cone-shaped seed pod. When the flower petals die off, the pod will dry and turn brown. Eventually it will droop over and drop its seeds.
Beautiful shot. Never knew how pretty the inside of a lotus blossom was. It’s been much cooler here too. I actually had to close the window the other night. I’m not ready for this.

Thanks, ann, and this is the first time I’ve been able to see inside the bloom…they’re usually not so close to the edge of the pond. Oh, I’m loving this weather…am totally ready for it.
Now that’s just trippy…

Awww, thanks so much, Joanne. I’m glad they were so proliferous this summer, otherwise, there’s no way I could’ve gotten this shot.
Very pretty, once again. I’ve been crazy-busy, myself. Hoping to get a break someday soon!
Thanks, Lana. Yeah, as little as I’m getting done, you’d think I was pretty busy, however, I think I’m doin’ a lot of procrastinating. Argh.

Thanks so much, NiceArtLife. I was lucky that this blossom was so close to the edge of the pond…saved me from getting muddied!
