In keeping with my birthday post for W last year, I’ve borrowed another one of his photos that without my meddling, would never be seen…which is just fine with him. Yes, I’m quite the buttinski.
Taken while standing on the shore of Manhattan in his hometown of New York City, he’s captured both the Manhattan and Brooklyn suspension bridges spanning the East River and landing in Brooklyn. If you’ve ever wondered which was which, the Manhattan bridge, on the left, is steel, while the Brooklyn bridge is steel and stone. W mentioned that when he walks the Manhattan bridge, he is one of a few, but when he walks the Brooklyn bridge, he is one of hundreds.
Nice shot, W, and happy birthday!
Love, Holly & Lu

It’s a wonderful picture, so glad you are buttinski and shared it with us :) Happy Birthday to W. Hope it’s a good one

Thanks, ann. I’ll pass along the happy birthday wish, as well as the compliment, to W. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. :o)
Nice shot, and happy birthday to W!
(I know I’ve asked this before, but just wanted to make sure: he’s not the same W who was president is he? Cuz that W was…y’know…kind of a tool…).

Thanks, drjay. I’ll pass the compliment and wish along to the b’day boy.
Haaa! No, he’s not that W, though he did play with ya a bit when ya last asked…something about Uncle Cheney and your walls having eyes. This W is no tool, but rather a real card. Plenty funny!

Hi Holly,
That’s a fabulous photo. When I was last in NY (sadly it was over 10 years ago) I did see that view but the camera I had at the time was rubbish and my talent and eye for a good photograph was pretty poor – so I didn’t take the photo. It wouldn’t have matched that one at all.
Happy Birthday to W by the way.
:0)
Cheers

Thanks so much, PM…I’ll tell W that you said so and pass along the b’day wish, too. I’m sure if you’d had the “right” camera you would’ve captured a beautiful shot. I wouldn’t expect any less! W has so many shots of NY, mostly of the bridges and elsewhere in the city. He needs a photoblog, I think.
Hope you, Mrs. PM and the kitties are doing well. You don’t have any of this awful hot weather, do you? :o(

Happy Birthday to W – that is a great photo – where was he situated when he shot it?
Grace´s last blog post ..Sunday Serenade
Thanks, Grace…I passed your message along. He says he was on the bike/walking path alongside the East River and not far from Pier 39, South Street Seaport. Had to drag it out of him…he insisted that it was a “secret” location. Geesh…
Having done it myself (& having grown up in the area,) I know that there are all kinds of historical plaques & photos along the walkways in the support structures of the Brooklyn Bridge. I wonder if the other is the same…
Lana´s last blog post ..Book Review Masters of Deception
W said that there are plaques on the Manhattan bridge as well, Lana. He happened to take some pics of a few of them.
Hope I’m not to late to wish W a happy birthday. His photo captures a familiar sight, as I’m sure I crossed each of these bridges thousands of time in my errant youth.

Thanks, nothingprofound. Never too late, and I’ll pass it on. I can’t imagine having something as neat as these two bridges to “play” on. Beats the playground!

Happy birthday W! I love this shot which is not a surprise as I love everything about NYC, Brooklyn and bridges. I lvoe that he got both bridges in this shot.

Sorry to find your comment so late, Emm. But thank you…I passed your good wishes along. And yeah, he took so many great shots of the bridges, but this was my favorite since it included both. He’s got a good eye, I think. :o)
