Lake Accotink is a 55-acre lake located in Accotink Park in Springfield, Virginia. Fairfax County is in the process of repairing a concrete dam there, so the lake has been temporarily drained. Led astray by W and Lucy (apparently we weren’t supposed to be doing what we were doing, but I didn’t see the STAY OFF sign), I attempted to follow them across a part of the lake, which was so dry it was cracked. Anyway, they made it across fine. Halfway, I sank like a rock, all the way up to my knees. A quick calculation of height, weight, girth, etc., was no help in figuring out what the hell happened (I sank…W didn’t). I started whining until they came back to pull me out (luckily an old board nearby helped in the hoist), and I then slid to and fro in my sandals all the way back to the dock where I rinsed my feet in a foot of stagnant, 100-plus-degree swamp water.
Wow, that was fun. When do we go back?

100-plus-degree swamp water…mmmmmm…lovely pic, though…
YogaforCynics´s last blog post ..That last post was pretty good- I think
I assume you were complimenting pic #1, drjay. Thanks. Ugh…I sank in this clay-like mud…like quicksand…and I thought I was going to lose my sandals. Uh oh, whining again…having flashbacks.
I feel bad because I’m sitting here laughing. I saw the first picture and my first thought was what a peaceful looking spot. Then I saw your second picture and read the post. At least you didn’t sink any further than that.
ann´s last blog post ..Life is good
Ha! I know what you mean, ann. I really didn’t want to include those feet, but I just had to. Sorry! :o)

Grace´s last blog post ..Ill Be Seeing You
Agree, Grace. I was almost cryin’…was afraid I’d be discovered by passers by before I was pulled out. Wah.
Ugh! For a while I worked security at a horse racing track. I had to cross the oval 2x/shift. When it was raining, it was nigh impossible (or is that “neigh” impossible?) I lose a shoe doing that once.
Lana´s last blog post ..RAK & New Fledglings
Ewwwwww…that means you may’ve had more on your shoes than mud, Lana. Maybe you shoulda lost both of them! “Neigh” impossible…haaaaaa!
