Yeah, it’s hot out there. And for the most part, we’ve been ridin’ in it. So, why don’t I just give it a rest, given the ungodly temps? Well, in another week or two—when our truck comes out of “surgery”—I’ll probably be on my way to visit family for a week, where I won’t be able to ride at all. And I have to ride. Because I love food. Because I have a sweet tooth. Because the pounds ain’t comin’ off by themselves. And, oh yeah, I do love to ride. More likely, though, it has to do with the way I am. I’m a feast or famine kinda gal. You either can’t tear me away from something or I ignore it altogether. So… .
Here sits my bike right off the W&OD trail, at our self-prescribed halfway mark. Weather-wise, there was a tradeoff today. Lower temperatures, higher humidity. But it was only an hour ride, on mostly flat terrain, so it wasn’t a killer. And there was plenty of water… .
I don’t know how hot it is where you are but there’s no way anyone could get me on a bike here. I opted for floating in the pool with Duke after work today.

A pool? Now you’re talkin’! If I had access to a pool I would most likely be there instead of riding…or would at least take a dip after riding…which sounds like great incentive. Happy floating to you and Duke! :o)

Thanks, Jennifer. Me too. And speaking of water, we have a friend who rides with us now and then, and he doesn’t drink a drop until after the ride, no matter how hot. I told him I was gonna post about him because he’s such a freak of nature…and he kinda liked that. Okay, he’s just a freak. :o)
I got back on my bike today–which was still brutal in the mid afternoon, but really not so bad in the evening…especially if there’s Ben and Jerry’s at the end of the ride….

Brutal it is, drjay. We’ve been trying to get out before noon, and we only do about 15 miles…weenie mileage compared to yours! We’ve reserved the evenings for Lucy’s walk.

Me, too, Chrissy. It’s my downfall! Yeah, sometimes the heat isn’t so bad…it’s that sticky that gets ya. Ugh.
We’re well over 100F with humidity these days, ourselves. We’re going to get up REALLY early tomorrow in hopes of getting in a sunrise hike, but it might still be too hot, even then. We’ll see…
