Lucy is sleeping off her first boat ride and dreaming about her first-hand (paw?) look at how the other half lives. Yesterday evening while on her walk, a member of the neighboring lake community invited us to take a tour of the lake on his pontoon boat. We were at first hesitant, but after we were chided more than once with, “C’mon, you all don’t have anything else to do,” I signaled with forefinger and thumb a capital L on my forehead and we said, “Oh, all right.” The lake community prohibits motorized boats and jet skis, and thanks to the barely audible electric motor, it was a very peaceful cruise. And of course, the weather was gorgeous, as those of you in these parts know.
So, as soon as Lucy rests up, we’ll post a few pics and a bit of interesting history (or a link to such) about the lake. In the meantime, Lucy sends a yaaawn and wishes everyone a happy 4th. *waving sparklers*

Hi Joanne. She had a lot of fun with our host’s dog, Sandy. We stopped at one of the five small beaches, and they played. I actually caught a little bit of video of that.

Pssst. Lucy. I will be very quiet and let you rest. Riding a boat is hard work because you must keep an eye on your human at all times to make sure they don’t go for an unintended dip in the water. Did you wear a safety vest for extra protection?

Ha! Lucy neither wore her safety vest nor paid any attention to our well-being. She was too distracted by our movement along top the “giant water bowl.” She did see a fish or something jump while we were beached and went to investigate. Maybe she’s dreaming about the one that got away! :o)

I have a hard time leaving Lucy at peace, too, drjay. Sometimes if she wakes up a little, I’ll mess with her some, and she’s usually so relaxed she just falls back to sleep. She’s always very comfortable in her surroundings. “Sleeping beauty”…hee. She’d like that.

Hi PM…isn’t she pitiful? Yes, she had a busy day and apparently got too much rest here. She was up at 6 am, in and out all morning. Now that we’re fully awake, she’s sleeping again! Crazy dog.
I remember when I used to sleep like that, all content with the world, with my paws up in the air. Maybe I need to take more boat rides.

Haaa! Actually, Lucy sleeps like this a lot. I thought she’d grow out of it, but am glad she didn’t. Unlike most of us, Lucy doesn’t have to try to get comfortable…she just is.

I’m with Dr Jay here – I’d be blowing raspberries on those big fuzzy paws – too inviting! The boat ride sounds like a real treat, and I love it that motorised vehicles are not allowed on the water. I hate that buzzy din, can really spoil a tranquil place. Plus it’s better for the ecology of the water and banks – they don’t get too eroded that way :)

Thanks, Bird. Lucy loves raspberries! Or at least I like to think she does…I usually blow them on her stomach. That’s what she gets for sleeping on her back! I like the “no gas motors” rule, too. All that noise and pollution defeats the purpose of such a place…of any place, really!

Lucy says “yes”…she loves the new sofa, even though it’s a little higher to jump up on and it’s slippery. She’s used to the sunken cushions and cheesy slipcover. She’ll adapt, she says. :o)
