I was going for the clouds here, but happened to capture a passing cyclist, too. She’s on the W&OD trail that passes by the old Vienna train station, which is right across the parking lot from here. Following our ride from the station to the town of Herndon and back, we stopped here for a bit before heading home—by way of vehicle, which we hate, but it’s kinda ugly biking out of our neighborhood. I know, wimps. Anyway, the W&OD is pretty flat and free from much traffic, so it’s a nice ride if you like to let your mind wander some. Look out for bolting deer, scampering squirrels and slithering snakes, though. Yikes.
If you’re here for the first time, yeah, I know, it’s only Thursday, but that’s when SkyWatch Friday begins…2:30 pm EDT, to be exact.
Don’t care for sky reflections in bicycle mirrors? Then why not go to SkyWatch Friday and find skies you might like from all over the world. While you’re there, why not leave a link to your own skies so all can enjoy? Many thanks to Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, Louise and Sylvia for hosting this most ethereal meme!

You got her perfectly1 I love this photo, I like the way you got the camera into it as well! Great colours, and the weird sense of fragmentation between the reflection and the background – love it.
When cycling I don’t really need to worry about deer and snakes, in London it’s more like articulated lorries, “bendy” buses and joyriders that keep me from daydreaming :D
BTW I got here through Network Blogs link on Facebook, so your blog stream or whatever the proper technical term is for it does seem to be working from the readers side :) Sorry to bring nerdiness into this lovely post!
Bird´s last blog post ..Adventures and earning my keep
Thanks, Bird. Glad you like it. And thank goodness I didn’t catch too much of myself there. Thanks, too, for the info on the Networked Blogs link…nerdiness is always welcome as I lack all those tech smarts! Hope your move to one FB page goes smoothly. :o)
I love this photo — the flatness of the reflection, the cyclist and sky, the bricks below.
My husband used to do a lot of mountain biking in Southern California and he talks about the rattlesnakes he used to encounter on the path. Don’t run over them is his advice. ;)
Jennifer´s last blog post ..godless wonder
Thanks, Jennifer…really glad you like it. Oh my gosh…rattlesnakes? Yikes. I’ve seen a few black snakes, which I believe are harmless, alongside the path, but rattlesnakes are something else. Yikes, again. Thank goodness I do road biking and am usually on a paved path!
Cool…

Thanks, drjay. It’s no Lucy-with-purple-flowers-in-a-watery-reflection, but, it’ll have to do for now.

A super cool photo – a little disorienting – but very nifty.
Grace´s last blog post ..Can someone explain why my cats dont like carpet on the stairs
Thanks, Grace…I see what you mean. I wouldn’t have even noticed this except for the splotch of bright sky standing out against the brick.
Great photo! Reminds me of a Magritte painting where the sky is reflected in a piece of broken glass.
Thanks, nothingprofound. Ahhh…I just googled Magritte, and I see what you mean. Interesting… .

Hi and thank you, PM. I’m so-so, I think. I don’t do as many “reflection” shots as I used to, ’cause it’s hard to find something interesting. This one was a little different. :o)
