I would’ve never thought of doing this if not for friend Koe, who for a while, was taking these kinds of photos. He threw anything and everything into the air and captured them quite nicely, too. It’s not as easy as it looks. It took many shots, one of which was the ball hitting me in the face, to get a decent one. Oh, and there were nice clouds in the sky, too.
Go to SkyWatch Friday and find skies from all over the world. While you’re there, why not leave a link to your own skies so all can enjoy? Many thanks to Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, Louise and Sylvia for hosting this most ethereal meme!

Hey all. It’s that time again. We finally have our “new” truck back. Yay! During its 7-week absence, I missed out on a family cookout in Delaware and a July 4th get-together in them thar hills, so, it’s off to the hills for the overdue visit…I’ll be away July 30 – August 7. (Yeah, I usually take the train, but Amtrak’s mid-summer fares are outrageous…and I’m cheap…uh, you know what I mean.) As is usual, I won’t have internet access, but I will check in once in a while from the local library. Lucy will be here to oversee the wonders of auto-post, so there should be a photo up most days. Stop by for a look if you’ve got a moment.
Love to see the family, but will still miss home, the bike and all of you. Have a good week!

Lucifer…not only a perennial, which attracts hummingbirds and makes for beautiful cut flowers, but also one of Lucy’s many nicknames. It’s reserved for those times when she gets a case of the meanies and insists on sneak attacks late at night, usually on our feet. Crazy dog.

In keeping with my birthday post for W last year, I’ve borrowed another one of his photos that without my meddling, would never be seen…which is just fine with him. Yes, I’m quite the buttinski.
Taken while standing on the shore of Manhattan in his hometown of New York City, he’s captured both the Manhattan and Brooklyn suspension bridges spanning the East River and landing in Brooklyn. If you’ve ever wondered which was which, the Manhattan bridge, on the left, is steel, while the Brooklyn bridge is steel and stone. W mentioned that when he walks the Manhattan bridge, he is one of a few, but when he walks the Brooklyn bridge, he is one of hundreds.
Nice shot, W, and happy birthday!

It’s big, it’s purple, it’s fancy, and I’m pretty certain it’s clematis. Found not far from this pink clematis blossom in Green Spring Gardens, they could very well be related. They live just across the garden from each other.
It is still very hot here and may be in the 100′s tomorrow, which may curb the urge to bike. We did a 12-mile utilitarian ride yesterday evening to pick up some fresh green beans from a family friend’s garden, and it wasn’t too bad. But today…holy cow. We almost expired. I’m ready to join those kids in the water parks.
Hope everyone is staying cool, and if you happen to have decent weather, keep it to yourself…no bragging! :o)
