Holy cow. I was ready to post this hours ago, and lo and behold, just as I hit “publish,” the electricity went out. Yes, a measly 15-minute storm knocked out the electricity for 4 hours. Just came on, so thank ya very much, Dominion, ’cause it was getting a bit warm and sticky in here. Ugh.
So, here is Lucy at her veterinary appointment earlier today. She had to go in for her annual shots, and although a bit nervous, she did great. She was very patient…heh…patient…get it? She calmly waited on the table…didn’t even think of bolting when she saw the doc line up those needles. To calm her during the actual shots, the vet’s assistant gave her a nice cuddle. Sorry, girl.

She does have that “I’m at the vet” panicked look. I’m glad things went well and that your electricity is back on!
Jennifer´s last blog post ..godless wonder
Hi Jennifer. She was more calm this time than she has previously been, and it may be that the vet is the worst of two evils…the other being the Toyota Tundra loaner from our mechanic. Poor Lucy is afraid of it. Geesh, I’m afraid of it. Vehicular overkill!
Thanks, I am sooo glad the electricity’s on now!
I had to hide the screen from Duke or he would have had flashbacks to his last vet visit. The picture of the vet’s assistant giving Lucy the hug would have probably put him over the edge…lol Well at least she’s good for another year now. Glad you’re electric came back on before you all melted.

Awww, poor Duke. Our vet now has a padded doggie table that adjusts…much better footing for the doggies, and I think that makes Lucy a little more comfortable.
Thanks, I’m glad it’s back on, too. And the rain has brought the temps down a few degrees. Yippee!

I don’t think she looks anxious at all – just her usual sweet self. Ah, yes, the infamous power outages – they were constant in Alexandria.

Lucy says thanks for the compliment, Grace. And she agrees that she was “her usual sweet self.” :o)
Yeah, the power outages…really awful. Why, no, I’m not spoiled at all. :o|
Poor sweetheart clearly doesn’t know what she’s in for in that top shot.
Reminds me of how my mom told me about how our golden retriever went bounding happily into the vet’s office for the follow-up after he was “fixed,” clearly not realizing what had been done to him. (I told the shrink my parents sent me to that cute little anecdote and he got really really interested in how upset this must have made me. When I said I had no idea what he was talking about, he took that as a sign that I was repressing my castration anxiety. You wouldn’t believe how much money my folks wasted on that quack. And people wondered why I had so little interest in Freudian theory in grad. school…).

No, she had no idea, and she was such a sweetie through everything…loved all the staff attention, despite the shots.
Oh my. Thank goodness that no matter what compelled your folks to send you to him in the first place, you at least had the mind to realize that he was off track. (Wasn’t your father a psychiatrist?) I’ve wondered about the advantages of therapy, as it’s been suggested that I may want to try it, but I don’t know. Paying someone to confirm that I’m the freak that I think I am is kinda…scary. And after reading your experience I’m wondering…how do you know whom to trust?
That was a long outage!
I always find myself extremely talkative while with my pets at the veterinarian, and I think it has something to do with them channeling their nervous energy through me. :)

That is a little longer than usual for us, but luckily it came back on before things got too uncomfortable in here.
Hee…channeling your pets’ energy…I like that. :o)

She looks very confident and brave to me and I’m glad all went well.

Hi Joanne. She is, but like I wrote to Jennifer, I think she was distracted by the truck and glad to be away from it. Yes, she’s good for another year.
