Speckled with today’s snow flurries, here I am with my first finished knitting project, which I wrote about here. It didn’t turn out too badly, but I’ve strategically hidden the poorly sewn seam in the back, and there’s an incorrect stitch right up there in front. And that frilly edge on top? I cast on too loosely, so it now only fits well frilly side up.
Next project? Hmmm, maybe another one of these as I need the practice and can never have too many headbands. They’re kinda my trademark winter wear, and I may be wearing them well into spring around here!

Looks lovely…and glad to see you’re back in our snowy parts…
YogaforCynics´s last blog post ..Thoughts Almost Buried in the Snow
Thanks, drjay. It does the job, so despite the boo-boos, I’m happy with it.
Boy, am I glad to be home, despite the mess here. Today we found a broken, but workable sled in the park, so fit in some sledding around Lucy’s walk…I quickly forgave the knee-high snow. :o)
Why is it that we always only get to see your hat and your eyes? Or eye?
:)
C´s last blog post ..We Are The Angels
Hi Charity. Well, ’cause the internet only sees what I want it to see. Actually, I’ve shown my face before, but believe me, you really don’t want to see anymore than what you see here. :o)

You’re good at it, Holly! It looks so comfortable, and that’s my favourite colour. I should wear something on my head too, my ideas are about to get frozen here. What a long winter. For heaven’s sake, I live in Spain! :)
Fullet´s last blog post ..Downtime
Hi Fullet and thank you so much. Yes, it’s very comfortable, although it would fit better if not for that too-loose edge. It sounds like you’re experiencing unusually cold weather…I hope things warm up for you soon and your ideas thaw out! :o)
Well, I am impressed – having never knitted a thing in my life. The color is gorgeous and is beautiful with your eyes.
I’m confused…have you moved?
Lydia´s last blog post ..The spaces between the stars are where the work of the universe is done.~ Ivan Doig
Awww, thanks so much, Lydia. I think that something like this is very easy to do…just straight knitting and purling. I haven’t learned to read instructions, so when I look at more complicated pieces such as socks and gloves, I’m totally lost. I’ll be making quite a few of these before I move on!
Confused? No, I’m still in the DC area, though I was in KY for the past 1 1/2 weeks. Just returned Sunday night.
Looks good to me, and once again, you have the most beautiful eyes!
Grace´s last blog post ..Ack! More snow and then more snow and god bless UPS
Awww, thanks, Grace. Very sweet of you. Believe me, it took 50 pics to find a pair of eyes without bags…actually I think I cropped ‘em out here!
Nice hat! Love the color. Congrats on completing a knitting project. (I never have!)
Thanks, Bossy Betty. Yeah, blue is one of my favorite colors. I found this easy to complete because of the simple pattern. I’m impatient…I want it finished right now!

What a coincidence – I just finally wrote something inspired by your first knitting post – you know, when we kind of said “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours?” I just came over here to tell you that I finally had :D
What a great job you did Holly – it looks far better than my first knitting project which I’ve been too shy to share (plus it was kinda unphotographable). So neatly done, the tension looks perfect and the colour is really beautiful on you. You need never have a cold head again, a good thing your snowy neighbourhood!
And I feel your pain about sewing up the seams, it’s a total pain and pretty hard to get neat. I looked on youtube, there is a great mattress stitch tutorial for seaming that helped me a lot. I got all giddy and lightheaded when I discovered circular knitting – no seams!!!!!
Bird´s last blog post ..Winter Sale Now On…15% Off!!!
Wow…yes, what a coincidence!
Thank you so much, Bird. Actually, I failed to mention that there are also two mistakes on the reverse side. When I goof, I don’t know how to “back up” and correct it, so I go right on. And I do always have something on my head in winter, so these never go to waste.
Seams, ugh. I will have to check out that mattress stitch. The circular needles were a little scary at first, but after having used them, they’re not bad. Except I find myself having to inch the thread around the needle a lot, which I guess is normal.
I can’t wait to see your finished cap…the recipient is so lucky! And alpaca…I’m still jealous! :o)

You and Craftybird both inspired me to knit again after 10 years! I really enjoyed it, I cannot see me doing it all the time but it was really restful somehow…and now I have a couple of wicked hats for sure :-) Oh and I despise seams but I found a great method somewhere for clumsy sewers…and it worked for me!
Glad to hear you are home safe and sound, good to see you proper like :)
Chrissy´s last blog post ..Tigers & Squirrels
That’s great, Chrissy, and I bet your knitting is beautiful as you are a natural artist! Hey, did you happen to knit the hat in your pic there? I think i’ll try Bird’s “mattress” stitch next time. My seam here is really horrid. :o(
Thank you, it’s glad to be home…I like visiting family, but I don’t like being stranded. Just one of those monkey wrenches…argh.

Could you delete the top one please…………hehehe!
Chrissy´s last blog post ..Tigers & Squirrels
Done!
looks good to me. You are probably the only one who will ever notice your mistakes. I know when I’ve crocheted blankets the mistakes stick out like a sore thumb to me but no one else can spot them.
ann´s last blog post ..I feel so disconnected
That’s true, ann. I guess since they’re right in front of our faces for the duration of the project, they’re hard to ignore. If only I knew how to backtrack to correct mistakes…sometimes I catch them as I make them, but don’t know how to fix. Wow, a blanket? Now that’s a project!
It looks great! I have knitting fantasies (yes, such is my life), but am not sure I have the patience. I hope you continue with it. And I agree with Lydia — the color is gorgeous and goes nicely with your eyes.
Jennifer´s last blog post ..Because I am hungry for art
Thanks, Jennifer. I’ve yet to discover how much patience I have with knitting. Headbands don’t take very long, but sweaters, socks, etc…I don’t know. I will stick with it, though, and see what happens. And thank you very much…I wish the rest of me went nicely with my eyes!
LOve the color Holly! I think the frilly top just makes it unique and what’s wrong with that?
Thanks, Laura…I love the color, too. Blue is one of my favorites. And yes, casting on too loosely does have its advantages, it seems. I’ll have to keep that “mistake” in mind!
That looks warm! Kudos. :)
Lana´s last blog post ..A Handful of Birds
Thanks, Lana. It is pretty warm. I’d make ya one, but it might be of no use in your parts!
I’m still waiting on mine…maybe this winter???
Hey Flea!
If you’ll wear it, I’ll make it. One just like this? In cotton or synthetic?
