Missing The Big Snow

pondandwoods

Don’t hate me. This is the only snow I’ve had to contend with for the past week. Yeah, I’m from the DC area, but as some of you may know, I’ve been away…and there’s usually two feet plus of snow here this time of year. Quite a switch. This is a partial view of my sister’s place where I’ve been staying for the past few days. Serene? Kinda. Behind me is a busy two-lane road with a pretty dangerous curve, one that could easily land a distracted driver in the snow-covered pond in the foreground.

By the way, Amtrak has done me (and hundreds of others) wrong, albeit understandably, and has again canceled routes south of Washington, DC. So, I won’t get to see W, Lucy, home nor multiple feet of snow until Sunday night, at the earliest. Since Mom and I are staying with the sibling, I do have internet access as well as doggie access—two of ‘em…yay!—and the company of a sweet, sweet nephew. So, I’ll try to stay in the loop and hope to see y’all from my usual digs, next week.

  • That’s more than we’ve had here this month. We’ve barely had enough to cover the ground. :-(

    • Hi John. I’m guessing that your lack of snowfall is unusual for you, too and that you’re not too happy about it. I’m sure my fellow east coast USAers would send you some if they could!

  • How can I hate you for snow pics? Over here it’s positively tropical so it’s a very nice change of scene for me. :)

Best of luck for your trip home. Btw, I’m very much enjoying my Lucy calendar and even my sister commented on what a lovely doggie she is!

    • Ahhh, I can understand your appreciation of a snow pic, then, Svasti. Ha! The grass is always greener…kinda.

Thanks, I’m pretty certain that I’ll be on my way home Sunday…and I’ve probably just jinxed myself. I’m so glad you like the Lucy calendar and please tell your sis “thank you” from me and Lucy…who I’m missing awfully right now. :o(

  • I don’t hate you…just resent you in a nice kind friendly kinda way…here in Philly, it’s still a serious disaster area…trains are kinda running (though there’s no point in consulting a schedule…you just show up at the station, and wait however long for one to show up), most of the cars on the road are stuck in snowbanks, and a couple blocks from me there’s actually a place where a tree fell across the road (not a major road, but a significant secondary one, I’d say) yesterday afternoon, and it’s still there)…and, of course, DC is significantly less prepared than we are…

    • I’m glad to hear you’re just a resenter and not a hater, drjay. Heh.

Geeze…what a mess you all have. And let me guess what you might be doing this weekend…shoveling your mom’s driveway again? Oooh…get out the Jack Daniels. Hope she’s doing okay through all of this, though…I bet you keep a close eye on her. I know poor W has shoveled our driveway at least three times this past week, and he and Lucy have been hibernating in between. And it’s amazing that the power hasn’t gone out on you all. That would be rubbing salt in the proverbial wound, methinks.

      Stay warm and safe, drjay.

  • well here in south philly the roads don’t get plowed and we figure we won’t see asphalt until April – I rarely leave the house so I don’t really care LOL

  • There’s no reason at all to hate you for this snow pics, that picture is enough and you capture it very well. We don’t have snow here in our place but I love to experience snow. Well, thank you so much for this stuff it’s very refreshing picture like others you have post.
