Gorgeous, I’d say…but you wanna see drama, look at the trees there in the DC area you abandoned in such a timely fashion, bending with the weight of record-breaking snow…or for that matter, me, after the many backbreaking hours spent shoveling my mom’s driveway…but the booze is helping… YogaforCynics´s last blog post ..Deep as My Backbends…from Hot Buns to Bhakti…in the Depths of Winter…Virtually and Otherwise…
I know, I know, drjay. I am so sorry that I’m missing Mother Nature’s visit, despite the “painful” aftermath. So far I’ve only seen a few pics from the DC area, via Facebook, and the snow is so deep that what lies beneath is unrecognizable. No surprise to you, I’m sure.
So, did your yoga practice help your shoveling, or was the driveway too long and the snow too deep? Or maybe the booze helped more than the yoga…
Gorgeous sky through those trees too. I love this sort of shot, did you use a wide angle?
I didn’t realise dray was in Washington, they tell me loads of snow on Twitter. I must go and see if I can find some images to look at! Chrissy´s last blog post ..Monthly Sketch Project – Meadow Brown Butterfly
Hi, and thanks so much, Chrissy. No, no wide angle. I just looked up and shot with our Canon PowerShot. Some day we’ll upgrade and have the nice lenses.
Drjay is a couple hours north of DC, but got the same amount of snowfall, I believe. W took some pics, but I’ll need to wait until I get back home Wednesday evening before I see them. And I hear another storm is on its way.
Lovely photo. I wish I could get decent sky shots in winter. The big problem here is that we don’t often get clear blue sunny skies – it’s usually a miserable cloudy day (like today for example).
Oh well, spring is coming so hopefully the sun will shine and I can get a shot like yours (though not nearly as good).
Hi PM and thanks. We do have some beautiful blue skies in winter if no storm is hanging about. And yeah, I can’t wait for spring, either. I thought it was on its way until the big storm the other day. Oh well.
Thank you for the compliment, PM, but you have no problem in the photography department–your pics are awesome!
That’s some drama. I love the way the tree in the center is framed by the other two. I swear I stared at this picture for like 5 minutes, I couldn’t take my eyes off. ann´s last blog post ..What’s so special about today?
Hi, and thanks, ann. At first I only noticed the beam on the tree and when I framed it, I couldn’t miss those two trees. So I thought, eh, take it anyway. I’m glad you liked it!
Hi Grace. I can’t wait to get back home to see all the snow. And that post-storm silence is nice, except for the sirens, ’cause we know what that means. Trouble for someone. :o(
Holly – I love the forest’s fight for sunlight (old song) that you’ve photographed here. I can’t wait to see your pictures – after the ordeal – in VA. We had zero snow here in NY – Y’all coulda shared a foot or so with us so we could at least go sledding.
…that takes root in ev’ry tree. That song? Hee…I googled that, koe, and still am not sure that is the song you’re referring to. But thank you, I’m glad you like the pic.
And can you believe that I’m missing the big VA snowstorm? I’ve been two states west for a week now and apparently am going to miss the second storm because my Wednesday train’s been cancelled. Argh. Poor W and Lucy are all alone to shovel, yet still snowed in. Argh. Argh. I’m pretty sure they would’ve shared with you if they could!

By the way, you’re a good kid. Mom’s lucky.

Beautiful picture! I love the drama of tree limbs against the background of sky.
Thanks, Bossy Betty, I’m glad you liked it. It was a rather odd shot…looks like those two trees are attacking.
Very pretty, and you did create drama with the two dark trunks framing the lighted tree. Excellent.

Thanks, Janie. I wish I had taken a shot of the sunlit tree alone, but I didn’t venture far enough into the woods…maybe next time.
With all the snow it certainly is silent with the faint sound of sirens in the distance…
