This was taken at the small dog park I mentioned here. The shaggy blonde is Tessa, and she was very persistent, not letting Lucy rest for a moment. The high-pitched bark and alligator snap mean Lucy’s had enough and is ready to walk. Lucy’s a funny girl. She seems to “use” other dogs only as a means to expend her pent up energy. She doesn’t endlessly demand other dogs’ attention like some. She has her own agenda. You go girl! (Click to enlarge if you’d like a water spray!)

Aren’t you afraid she might swallow some of the water and get sick? The Potomac is toxic!
Grace´s last blog post ..You were always on my mind…
Hi Grace, and yeah, we do worry about that, but she seems to do okay. And she only goes down there once in a while, so… There are (and have always been) people down there fishing and I’ve always wondered about that.
A couple of years ago there was a local ironman race and the swim portion was to be in the Potomac. All participants were REQUIRED to have some kind of immunization shots because of the toxicity of the river. The race was canceled because just before race day pollution tests revealed that it was to dangerous to swim in. Ewww…
Grace´s last blog post ..It’s a hard knock life…
Oh my gosh, I hadn’t heard about that. Yikes. Miss Lucy may have to forgo the swimming on our next visit…but she loves the water so much…I know she’ll be begging for at least one dip.
It’s nice that Lucy likes the water and gets a chance to get her energy out with other dogs (until they cross the line!). Nora steps over puddles. She doesn’t fetch, either. It’s all squirrels all the time.
Jennifer´s last blog post ..I serve in this fashion
Hi Jennifer. Hee…”steps over puddles.” Could it be because she carries the name of a very fine eating establishment in DC and doesn’t want to tarnish the image? And I wonder if that water skiing squirrel would change her mind about swimming…hmmm…
So cute! There is definite communication goin’ on in her face. After your earlier post my husband and I used Google maps street view to wander all around the area and we had a great time. Fun!
I posted a couple shots of Abby earlier this week…lazing around on the couch. One thing for sure, she is NOT a water dog. But Bonbon, our Standard Poodle, would love to join Lucy in any river any time. :)

Hi Lydia and thanks. Yeah, isn’t Google maps fun? I just hope it doesn’t catch me someday running out in my pj’s to get the paper!
Those pics of Abby are sooo sweet! And Lucy would welcome Bonbon for some water play…though she may prefer your ocean to our river…yuck.
I thought the creature on the left was some kind of Lake Monster that Lucy was bravely fending off. Very sweet photo :)
Svasti´s last blog post ..Stuff not written in your fortune cookie
Hi Svasti and thanks. Tessa might as well been a Lake Monster…she was really getting on Lucy’s nerves.
Wet dogs…adorable at a distance…definitely looks like they’re having a good time, though…

I agree, drjay. The funny thing about doggies is that they always make sure they’re right next to you before they shake. How sweet of them to share. Yeah, Lucy had a good time…until she didn’t.

Looks like fun! We have a teeny tiny dog park here, but it’s just a fenced in grassy area. No water for our pups to splash around in. May I ask you how you get the thing on the bottom of your posts where your readers can click to share on the different sites?
Melissa´s last blog post ..Wordless Wednesday ~ Can You Tell What This Is?
Hi Melissa and thanks for stopping by. A bad thing about this dog park is that it isn’t fenced in and the side of the park opposite the river borders a street. Amazingly, I’ve never seen a dog run out into the street, so I suppose distraction keeps them reigned in. It was a long time before we had enough confidence to let Lucy off-leash here…and we’re still nervous about it!

It seems they had a great time! Lucy did not loose her style after the swimming. :) She’s such a charming girl.

Thanks Fullet. And Lucy thanks you too. She really has a mind of her own. She loves to play, but she loves to stick to her schedule too!
