This is the view from Ford’s Landing, a townhouse development in Old Town Alexandria. Out of frame, on the left, is the shore of the Potomac and a small dog park. Usually after a dip in the waters, Lucy ventures on to the Jones Point Lighthouse, stopping along the way to play ball beneath the Woodrow Wilson bridge.

Wow what a beautiful picture. I really like the way the reflection of the houses in the water. If you draw a line in the middle you can divide the picture into two. One is the clear version and the other one is the reflection.

Hi and thanks so much, Sjay. I wish the water had been more still, but after all, it is a river. Oh well.
A truly beautiful shot, Holly. I love the look of those townhouses in that gorgeous setting. It’s a part of the country that I still haven’t visited, not for lack of desire! I clicked on your two links, too, and enjoyed those shots as well.
Lydia´s last blog post ..some facets of faces
Thank you, Lydia. I just love this area, however it’s a little overpriced—okay, a whole bunch overpriced—for us, even in the down market. But it is so peaceful here, away from the hub-bub of Old Town a few blocks away (the place to go for all the eatin’ and shoppin’). It is worth a visit if you’re interested in doing the colonial thang!

Holly, that is stunning. The symmetry here with the reflections is just amazing.

Thank you, Joanne. I love these reflections on the water, but I don’t see them very often. I’m glad it was a clear day and I had a chance at this shot.
You know how I like reflection shots…maybe ’cause the reflected world just looks a little bit dreamier…

Yep, you’re a reflections kinda guy, drjay, literally and figuratively.
If you don’t mind me name droppin’—which I’m gonna do anyway :o)—it happens that I took this while standing in front of the old Carville-Matalin haunts, shown here. I think they had the corner house. We saw Carville *thumbs up* sitting on the boardwalk once, but never saw Matalin *throws rocks*. Lucy’s brush with the rich n’ famous…okay, maybe just the rich.

Very nice pticture, Holly, particularly the reflection.
Looks like a nice spot to relax too.

Hi PM and thanks. Yes, it is a very peaceful place, despite the gigantic bridge nearby. We love this place as does Lucy. Plenty of entertainment for her around here!
Looks so peaceful. The sort of scene I hate to disturb even with my presence.

Heh. I think I see an aphorism there, nothingprofound… But what do I know? I am a lowly amateur…somethin’… :o)
I wasn’t all that crazy about Old Town when I lived there but now I am nostalgic for it – your photos just reinforce how much I miss it.
Grace´s last blog post ..Sunday Serenade
Hi Grace. Yeah, Old Town is a pretty busy place and kinda cramped, huh? Maybe a “nice place to visit but wouldn’t wanna live there” place for many. I think it’s the charm, though, that gets to us.
