This was taken very early in the morning as the waterman made his way down Lancaster Creek to the Rappahannock River, which borders the southern side of Virginia’s Northern Neck.

Hmmm…this looks like a later Hitchcock movie…don’t think I wanna know what’s on the end of that rope…
Heh…actually, drjay, that’s not a rope. It’s a water hose. But don’t worry…I won’t tell you what’s on the other end…
A water hose??!!
Man…things are gettin’ pretty nefarious down your way…

The light, colors and reflections in this shot are spectacular.
Thanks, Joanne. I really liked the stillness of the water. A nice sunrise would’ve really made it, I think.

Eerie and beautiful at the same time. Misty water-colored memories…. or something like that.
Oooh, pullin’ out the artsy lingo on me, are ya? Heh, thanks, Kathy.

Strange how people see different things. I love this, it is a very beautiful image. The mist gently rising off the water….somehow there should be some poetry to go with it ;-)
Really nice, the weather here is so grey right now! This beautiful and serene, Luff it :)
Thanks, Chrissy, and I’m glad you liked it. I think you’re right about the poetry, and you know, I didn’t even think of it. This is a very beautiful place…lots of quiet and nature here.
It is very bleak here, also. An icy mix last night that’s turned to rain. Ugh. Hope both of our weathers improve soon!
I love that line of mist…
Grace´s last blog post ..Bouncing Around
Thanks, Grace. It took a very early morning on a summer day to catch this one. A fluke, really, as I’m not that early of a riser.
Love it, especially the mist I can imagine being on that boat and feeling at peace
ann´s last blog post ..Backwards
Hi, and thanks, ann. I can imagine being on that boat, but not at peace for very long. He’s headed out to the river for a full day of fishing. Work. Argh.
the mist separating the reflections is just perfect!
Thank you so much, Laura, and welcome. I was lucky to find this mix of mist, reflection and glassy water, though unlucky that I missed the smudgy camera lens…oh well! :o)
This is the kind of picture that makes me homesick. The kid and I were watching videos of blue crabs today (he was interested — though most of the videos on the internet are how-tos, as in how to cook and eat them, and we just wanted to look at a live one or two). That made me homesick, too.

Hi Jennifer. Awww, I’m sorry about those feelings…I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never really experienced homesickness, except maybe when my parents moved from here to KY, but that was so long ago.
I remember spending time in Deale, MD, when I was young and it was the first time I “bonded” with crabs—I’m pretty sure you’re familiar with the chicken neck in the crab pot thing. Unfortunately my catch was destined for that huge pot of boiling water.
By the way, you apologized for evoking feelings about the hospital room in your post, “The bottom of the sea.” No need, really. I think we have a love-hate relationship with those kinds of feelings. They make us so sorrowful, yet, we welcome them, as we don’t want to lose them… At least that’s how I feel.
