Hello there. What a lovely black and white shot.
P.S. Update: I have been overwhelmed with work and preoccupied with a friend going through emotional crisis. Aside from that I bout a domain for my bloggingtips blog, the pagerank has to start from 0/10 again and I’ve been working so hard on that blog I have had no time for my other two, for reading and commenting, etc. Hopefully, things will slow down by week’s end.
Give Lucy and hug from me and Mr.T too. :)

Hi tt and thanks…glad you like the pic. Wow, you have been busy. Hope all is okay with your friend, though, and that things get back to normal for you soon. Thanks for stopping and commenting. Lucy sends a woof! and a thank you for the hug! :o)
So beautiful and serene. Gave me a lot of peace to look at it. Thanks, Holly.
Lydia´s last blog post ..just breathe love
Thanks, Lydia, and I’m glad you liked it. Despite the planes coming and going (just a few miles from the airport) and the usual hoards, it is really a nice place.
Ha! I got me aq bunch of those…of course mine aren’t as nice or as good as yours…
Grace´s last blog post ..Frozen Falling Lizards
Hi Grace…that’s right…you used to live in Alexandria so you’ve got pics of all this stuff. However, I don’t believe that they’re not as nice or better…no, I don’t! :o)
Very nice shot. I really like the black and whites. I never did comment on that flower pic from Sunday either. I can’t wait to be able to see that much color again.
ann´s last blog post ..Dreaming
Hi and thanks, ann. I love b&w, too. And yeah, everything outdoors now is either gray or brown. I can’t wait to see the green again…of course around here that means humidity and mosquitoes. Ugh.

Nice pic! And I love Chart House:)
Patrice´s last blog post ..Cool Hand Cuke
Hi Patrice and thanks for stopping by. I saw you’re in the D.C. area. Cool. I’ve never eaten at the Chart House, but I love taking pics of it…it’s so colorful and striking against the sky.
I like the use of black and white for this well-kept dock. Looks like a nice place to sit on the benches and contemplate life.
Janie of Utah´s last blog post ..Abodes through the Ages
Thanks, Janie. I like b&w, too. This is a nice dock, and I think I took this on a Sunday morning while all was peaceful. There are usually hoards of people milling about.
Wow…looks like a still from an early Hitchcock movie.
Nobody’s about to get pushed off that dock, I hope?
Oooh, you’re right, drjay.
Actually, one unlucky tourist “accidentally” went over the edge into the icy waters. Happens he was standing in a most inconvenient spot…smack in the middle of my frame…and he was rather stubborn. Wouldn’t move himself outside the bounds of my photo, yet refused to stand quietly and pose as a piling. Poor stiff…

Well I can’t blame you for “helping” the fellow move out of the way. :) You wouldn’t want to miss such a classic shot. I love the old world feel of it – like it should be a setting for a classic black and white movie.

Hi and thanks, Earth Friendly. I didn’t even think of old movies, but like YFC and you mentioned, yeah, it does. I should’ve seen that! Thanks for stopping by.
Great use of B/W! Nice one!
Lana´s last blog post ..Bird News
Thanks so much, Lana. I was hoping this was a fitting pic for b&w…sometimes I’m not sure.
This is really stunning in black and white. Color probably wouldn’t have done it justice. That’s one of the things that’s so frustrating about photography these days. People don’t use black and white enough, but done properly, it creates a mood much more dramatically than color usually does. Plus B/W photography is an art all on its own. (I’m a second generation photographer – my dad’s been shooting for over 60 years – so I’m more conscious of these things.)
Janiss´s last blog post ..There’s No Such Thing as a Pro-Declaw Kitty
Thanks, Janiss. I’m glad you like it. I love b&w, but am sometimes not sure when to use it. My rule of thumb, for the most part, has been if the pic doesn’t have a lot of color in the first place (which a lot of times means it’s a bleak or moody setting anyway), then try b&w. Then, of course, there’s just that feeling that b&w may be better than color.

It looks very serene and nice use of monochrome :D Nice composition, It looks amazingly tidy :)
Thanks so much, Chrissy. Amazingly, this dock is kept in nice shape. The planks aren’t wood, but some sort of composite material, so they do stay nice and don’t warp. I’m assuming the tourists use the garbage cans!
I love docks and boardwalks. I grew up a ten minute bike ride from Coney Island and spent half my childhood staring at the ocean. What a lovely place to sit and chat. we should all meet there someday.
Hi nothingprofound,
I love them, too. This waterfront is all refurbished and nothing like when I was growing up. Back then it was full of old warehouses and run down docks, nothing like the tourist attraction that it is today. I can imagine that growing up with the ocean close by would be cool…what kid wouldn’t like that?
Now that is a surreal thought…meeting our blogger buddies. Hmmm, I wonder who would show… You’re right though, this would be a nice place to meet.
Lovely b/w picture. Love the shadow play :)
Thanks, anny, and glad you like it. Thanks for stopping by, too.
