Just an inexpensive plastic Christmas toy, my dad bought this at either a Drug Fair or Peoples Drug in the early 60’s. Actually, he bought two, and he used to perch them atop my mom’s and my Christmas stockings. I think it’s kinda charming, but W says it gives him the creeps and reminds him of a bad horror movie. Heh. It’s that yin and yang thang.
Lucy and I wish you all a happy holiday!

I’d go with charming…still, there’s something about old toys that gives a lotta people the creeps…maybe it’s the just the oldness of them, when we associate toys with children, or the strangeness where we expect something comfortable…

Love the reindeer. The doll, however, is from Creeptown, USA.

Hi drjay. “…the strangeness where we expect something comfortable…” Yeah, I think you’re right. I can definitely see the creep factor in old toys…like dolls with their moving eyes. Yikes. Come to think of it, some really old portraits of people are creepy too.

Like The Velveteen Rabbit, there is something to that toy. I think it’s a keeper!

Hi Lydia and glad you like it. Maybe not as fancy as the rabbit, but like you say, there’s something to it…despite what Kathy the Fraidy Cat says! :o)
