A Haiku Snow Job

snowybackyardThe snow scene made clear
Our job is finally here—
Spoil the white beauty
lucyandbootBut Lucy needs play
And today is the best day
For snow boots and fun
snowydrivewayThe moving of snow
Holy cow it is so slow
A looong way to go
whataboutmeEyes plead how ’bout me?
I’ve waited so long for snow
When will you oblige?
snowystepsI am tasked the walk
To make clear for safe going
Though my mind wanders…
firstposition
In first position
Though a ballerina, not
I still have my fun
failedpasse
A tried passe fails
So my eye roves across snow
As nature beckons
oakleafAn oak leaf lies lit
By the slowly setting sun
And begs to be snapped
shovelingdoneSnowy landscape marred
We gather shovels and pup
Cold and wet we’re done

Oh good Heavens! I can only imagine my little French poodle in the snow! She will hardly even walk on grass! And when she does, oh my goodness! You should see her! It’s the most hilarious thing! hahahahaha! It’s as if she’s stepping on stepping stones through a stream! She steps each step for her dear life! hahahaha! I can only imagine how she would feel about snow!!!!

Merry Christmas, Holly and Lucy and family! :)

  • So much work to be done, and you found time, too, for creativity and for us. Hooray! I’m sorry for Lucy, but I’m glad that you shared your haikus and a lot of photos today. Oh, but those eyes… Lucy can be an artist too, a very persuasive one.

  • Wow – I thought we had enough snow here, Holly.

In Manchester we rarely get snow but this year we have had quite a lot (nowhere near as much as you) and it has brought the city and the surrounding area to a standstill. In the UK we are just unprepared for such weather – the reason? Because “we don’t get enough snow”.

    Until now…

    We’re useless, utterly useless.

Anyway, great post – and I’m delighted to see that Lucy did a great job supervising you.

    :0)

Merry Xmas to you, W and of course Lucy.

    Cheers

  • Thanks, Svasti. Yes, Lucy always gets some play…maybe not as much as she wants, but she’s a hard one to keep up with sometimes!

Hi Chrissy. We had about 16″. It’s not too bad, but our driveway is so long. Actually, poor W shoveled most of it…you can see what I was up to. :o| Lucy thanks you!

Hi and thanks, Grace. Yeah, I like it photos, too. Hard to show in pics, though, how beautiful it really is.

Hi drjay. I like that Lucy pic, too. She looks a little like her younger self here. Maybe it’s that wide-eyed look.

Hi and thanks, ann. Yeah, we haven’t had this much in a while. I think if it’s going to snow, it should do it up big!
    *
Hi Charity. My goodness…your poor poodle. She might just disappear in this stuff!

Hi and thanks, Secret forest. It was my pleasure to bring this beauty to the blog. And believing that some of you might appreciate it, made the work to be done not so daunting. :o)

Thanks so much, PM. I saw some news reports on your snow. Believe it or not, it seems as though we are quite useless when we have a lot less snow. Maybe it’s because it’s the holiday season that has made people more tolerant. You’re exactly right…Lucy is an excellent supervisor! Happy holidays back atcha! :o)

Oh GORGEOUS words and pictures Holly! I love the oak leaf, and the snow waiting for an imprint, and Lucy digging in it. You got a lot! We had a thick fall in London on Monday bit it’s just dwindled and turned to treacherous ice now – not so fun.

I’m probably not going to be online much now at all till new year so I just wanted to wish you a good and happy holiday, looking forward to reading and looking at your beautiful pictures again next year, Lots of love to you Holly, Lucy and W as well xxx

  • So much snow, yikes! But it can’t be all bad since it caused you to burst forth in picture (photographs) and song (haiku).

  • Thank you so much, Bird. I’m glad you like them. It really was a lot of fun as we haven’t had such a snow in years. It was Lucy’s first huge snow and we couldn’t keep her out of it. She loved it! I saw your weather troubles on the news and agree that ice is no fun—only dangerous, so be careful out there! I hope you and R are having a great holiday and I’ll see you next year. Likewise, I look forward to YOUR beautiful pics! *many hugs*

Hi nothingprofound. Heh-heh…bursting forth in picture and song…yep, that’s me alright. Quite the twinkle toes in those boots there. Of course, Lucy stole the show, as should be. All of her hamming-it-up is natural, unlike moi! :o)
