Wednesday morning was unusually pretty. When I first looked out, the sky was deep blue, banded with orange-red across the horizon. Very quickly, though—within minutes—the sky bloomed into a beautiful pastel mix.
May all of you SkyWatch participants, as well as those who just come to look, have a 2010 full of beautiful skies.
Go to SkyWatch Friday and find skies from all over the world. While you’re there, why not leave a link to your own skies so all can enjoy? Many thanks to Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, Louise and Sylvia for hosting this most ethereal meme!

On my recent trip to Kentucky, these guys would be in the front yard early in the morning…on many mornings. Belonging to the kinfolk up the road, they would mosey on down, stopping at my dad’s yard to graze and leave hoof ruts, among other things…ugh. On each visit we would call Farmer Brown and ask him if he knew where his cows were. After a few weeks, probably tiring of our wake-up calls, he moved them to the other side of the hill where they are now gracing other yards.
Got cows? Need fence.
Truthfully, though, Lucy and I really enjoyed getting up close to the bovines.

The recent rains have melted most of our big snow, but Lucy still managed to find herself a nice patch to strike a pose. Here she sings the praises of what, I’m not sure. Maybe she’s happy that we remembered to bring a tennis ball or that she’s managed to get through the holidays, so far, without ruining her figure. Boy, I envy that waist.

Lucy has been a bright spot in more places than just the snow lately. As anyone who has a doggie, or is around doggies, knows, they take you to a whole other place, whether you need it or not.
These were taken a few days ago when it was still a winter wonderland around here. Thanks to a good 12 hours of rain, the snow is just about gone, but thank goodness that the bright spot remains.

Just an inexpensive plastic Christmas toy, my dad bought this at either a Drug Fair or Peoples Drug in the early 60′s. Actually, he bought two, and he used to perch them atop my mom’s and my Christmas stockings. I think it’s kinda charming, but W says it gives him the creeps and reminds him of a bad horror movie. Heh. It’s that yin and yang thang.
Lucy and I wish you all a happy holiday!
