This looked like a homemade sign, so it appears that somebody means business, but that somebody has it all wrong, me thinks. “Here lies the owner of the last dog…” is more apt. Until doggies learn to bag their own deposits, the job’s on us, their people, so we’re accountable. And yes, they should be curbed, but mistakes happen. I don’t think there’s a homeowner who wouldn’t excuse a logistical boo-boo as long as it was cleaned up.
Okay, so maybe I read too much into this. Argh.

I’ve thought the same thing when seeing signs like that…similar to when there was this poor dog penned up next door to an apartment I lived in ten years ago, barking all night–when I screamed “shut up!” out the window at 4 AM, I wasn’t really yelling at the dog, I was trying to wake up his owner just like I’d been woken up…

Haven’t had a dog since I was very young, but I do remember the way we’d gingerly walk through the backyard looking for Sandy’s droppings! Dad would come out with the shovel and remove them all. But of course, we still managed to stand in one or two.
Out for walks, its definitely the owner’s responsibility. I’ve seen more than one owner look the other way though, as their dog does his business. Naughty!

Hi Svasti. Yes, some owners are awful slackers when it comes to cleanup. I commented to Kathy up there about people leaving their messes in the most obvious places. Even in our dog parks some people don’t pick up, and even the poor doggies won’t venture into those areas. Can’t blame them either.
It is funny, but I agree with you, and all the commentators…the owners should be held responsible for the mess!

You need a similar sign that says “Here lies the last person who killed a dog for pooping on his lawn”, then take a photo of it, sneak around in the middle of the night and staple it to that guys front door.
Excuse me – I allowed the child in me to take over for a split second there.

I do think that some dog owners are very irresponsible towards cleanup, in fact i know so. We live by a hill where lots of owners take their dogs and there is poo all over the paths, it is revolting. However, thats sign is a bit OTT

We use biodegradable poop bags that are available at Petco (and many other places). It’s one of the staples on our pet supply list.
My reaction to this photo? I think it would be fun to go over there in the middle of the night and install one of those Poop Bag stands that you see in some city, county, and state parks. They deserve that kind of surprise when they go out to get their morning paper!

You don’t really get very many truly bad dogs, but you get plenty of really bad dog owners, that haven’t got a clue. But I persnally think the owner of the sign has probably just got a wicked sense of humour!

Reminds me of a youtube video I just saw last night showing a little girl digging a hole in the yard. The neighbor asks what she was doing and she says “I’m burying my goldfish” The neighbor says why are you digging such a big hole then you silly girl and she says “Because it’s in your @#$%@ cat!”
Yes a little sick humor but it sure was funny coming from such a sweat little girl.
