I took this from the train I was on a few weeks ago, and although I love the beauty of the natural world, I can’t resist these structure-against-sky shots. I think the drabness of it all demands it be in black and white.
Don’t care for industrial skies? Then go to SkyWatch Friday and find skies you’re sure to like from all over the world. While you’re there, why not leave a link to your own skies so all can enjoy?

Whoah…cool photo, in a scary kinda way…

I like the contrast of the building to the sky. And it works great in B&W.
Love it! Excellent framing. (Moving at the time?) And black and white really does it justice.
I definitely care for industrial skies and you had some brilliant goodies there. I don´t think it was drab at all but the artsy black and white matched the subject very well.

I’m growing to love industrial photos. Black and white is best for them, too, I think. This one is great.

Even the most incredible sky usually needs some subject of interest on the ground to make a complete photo, so well done there. I agree that B&W was the correct choice. Very nice!

Hi and thanks, drjay. Yeah, I think it’s scary too. Don’t know what’s in those tanks, but I’m pretty sure it ain’t chocolate milk…

Hi Louise and thanks. I believe we were moving, but slowly as we were going through a populated area. I think this was taken a half-hour outside of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Hi Mark and thank you very much. I just noticed that I have a darker area on the left of the photo, which I think is the reflection off the window. Oops!
