It was a dark and beautiful day with the brooding clouds hanging low over the train tracks alongside the park. Go here to see shenanigans at the tracks!
Don’t care for sad skies? Then go to SkyWatch Friday and find skies you’re sure to like from all over the world. While you’re there, why not leave a link to your own skies so all can enjoy?

Wow, that’s a beautiful cloud! It looks so soft and fluffy. I like the composition of the photo, you’re drawn into the picture thanks to the tracks.

That is not a sad cloud, that is a friendly sheltering cloud and a lovely one at that!
I too took a look around and those are some fine squished pennies!
I remember doing this as a kid and being shooed away only to go back after the train had passed by to pick up still warm , very flat pennies!

Hi Erin and thanks. You have a good weekend, too. Have to say, I still love your header…
*****
Hi Maria and thanks. Glad you did the penny stop…it was a fun thing to do.
*****
Hi Joanne. Yeah, I think I like the brooding skies better than the sunny ones sometimes.

Thanks, ann, and thanks for stopping by.

Hi Janie. Moody, I like that…a great description!
*****
Hi Lauren. I agree. Thanks for coming by.

Hmmm. Yeah, I think you do, drjay. Playin’ City of New Orleans? I just read that the train route in the song is Chicago to New Orleans. One train (the one I take) that comes through here is Chicago to New York. Oh well…

Hi betchai and thanks…glad you like ‘em.

Hi Janis and thanks. Wow, you did that too? That is so cool. It was exciting, right? Waiting for the trains to come through so you could reclaim the goods!

Beautiful clouds Holly, almost looks like a painting if you cropped it tighter.
Have a wonderful weekend my dear :)
Your one line description sounds like a dead-on perfect introductory sentence for a short story or a novel.. keep it going:) Awesome clouds.. you’re getting a lot of ‘mileage” out of those tracks recently!

Thanks, Vanilla. It was looking a little like an old painting to me, too. Thanks, you have a good one, too!

Hi Mark. Hee-hee, that didn’t occur to me when I wrote it. And, yes, everyone will be happy to know that my railroad pics are coming to the end of the line. ;o)
Holly…why does this look like a painting? Renaud!

That is absolutely beautiful! I could stare at it forever. The clouds make the whole scene perfect. The little details of the background are good and I find myself searching everywhere to see what I might find. I love railroad tracks and trains, and the path on the left is a great mystery for me.

Hi Holly,
What a great cloud – bright yet menacing at the same time.
Cheers

I’m a fanatical sky-watcher. I have only one rule in life: remember to look at the sky. It’s cloudy much of the time where I live, so I get to see some spectacular displays.

Hi Charity. I think this looks a little like a painting, too. See? That’s what you get when you have incorrect exposure on a dark afternoon…I think…
*****
Hi Ratty and thanks so much. Glad you like it. That path on the left is paved and parallels the tracks. I thought of telling you more, but don’t want to spoil your mystery… :o)

Hi PM and thanks. You know, I don’t think it rained that day…amazingly. It seems like every day we have these huge clouds…and I’m not complainin’!
*****
Hi Nothing profound. I agree…the sky is just an empty canvas without clouds. We’ve been lucky as we seem to have plenty of clouds each and every day.
