While on the penny excursion, we found this bone fragment lying on the tracks. A vertebra from a deer…we think.

Oh, how weird. Looks like a sculpture of a crumpled up piece of paper.

Cool photo…actually looks kinda abstract until ya read the caption…

I like the black and white of this photo! It’s so vivid!

“We think” is so sweet. Great shot (what a story is there). And I love the Adopt poster – same artist that did the Obama poster, right?

Nice photo and brought back a great memory of when I was a kid, “exploring” with my brother. We found a whole pile of old bones…and were convinced we had stumbled on a MURDER! My we were horrified and excited…only to discover it was from some dead cow, sigh, there went my career as a detective!

Hmmm….you know it could be a tooth of some sort…of some sort of a very big thing that had teeth…

Hi Kathy. Yeah, I agree, it is weird…and you know, that’s not the only bone we found, either. Yikes. Best to imagine it’s a piece of crumpled paper, I think. :o)

Thanks, drjay. Yeah, now that I look at it again, it could be anything, ‘cept I’ve also got a pic of a leg bone that I think goes with it, to the same deer, that is…

Hi Icy BC and thanks. Glad you like the black and white. I thought I’d try that as there wasn’t much color in the original photo anyway.

Hi and thanks, Lydia. Yeah, we’re not absolutely sure about the deer thing, but it makes the most sense…I think. :o) Yes, at obamicon.me you can fashion all sorts of these, which are inspired by Shepard Fairey’s design—had to look that one up—I had no idea who designed the now-famous poster.

Hi willoaksstudio. Oooh, now that really does sound exciting! I think I would’ve been a little disappointed that it was a cow, too.

Hi Charity. A tooth? Oh my, I hope not. The leg bone we found wasn’t very big, so we’re pretty sure it was a deer. Poor deer, though…
Lucy should know:) Actually, quite a nice (and spooky) photo. No Georgia O’Keeffe Skulls lying around to go with it??

Hi Mark and thanks. Hee-hee, Georgia O’Keeffe…that’s funny. But now that you mention it, we returned to the “boneyard” and did find more bones…ribs, partial skull bones (I think) and other vertebrae. I googled and am now almost certain they belong to a deer…phew!

Hi Petula and thanks and thank you for stopping by.

Beautiful photo – great contrast between the weathered railway sleeper and the weathered bone.

Thanks, Bird. Yeah, there wasn’t much color in the photo anyway, so I decided on b&w. Also, b&w seemed pretty fitting for…bones…yikes.
Perfect use of black & white here. Lovely textures, as well!

Hi Lana and thanks. Yeah, sometimes I’m not sure what pics are better in b&w, but there was so little color in the original…
