Thank you, drjay, and I agree with stark, sad and wistful. This was taken in early March, before all the tourists poured in, and it was cold, quiet and still, with only the sounds of gulls. I love that kind of atmosphere.

Hi and thanks, Vanilla. Glad you liked it.
Right before we moved to California two years ago, we lived in Alexandria for about six months. It can be quite beautiful there, though I was pining away for DC even then. Thanks for the reminder of almost-spring in Northern Virginia.
I grew up in Alexandria and have always lived in the area, but once considered moving to D.C. I worked in D.C. for years and can understand your “pining.” It’s a beautiful and interesting place. But California…wow! I’ve only been there once, a few years ago, and I loved it. Especially San Francisco and southern California. Actually, may end up out there someday…or around Utah, Arizona…the west is just so awesome…
Oh Nature is always amazing. In this photo, I liked the grey shadows fading into black. As a side note, we have in my country, Egypt, the famous City of ‘Alexandria’ built by Alexander the Great.
Very nice…kinda stark & sad & wistful…in a good way…
