You just never know when that ottoman may have a mind to get up and leave.
(Unattractive Naugahyde hassock circa 1950s.)

I spotted these two in the Ballston area of Arlington, Virginia, possibly on their way from the Custis bike trail, that is a good short-cut from Washington, D.C., to the W&OD trail. I used to take both trails to get into the city when I was working there and the Custis trail is a good workout. Hilly and twisty, it was fun to try to catch, or run from, other commuters on the path. It’s the only thing I miss about working in the city! And hey, it is Mellow Yellow Monday, so here are some yellow cars, yellow awning, yellow walk sign… Want to see more than cars and stuff? Then follow the link to see a whole lot of other beautiful yellow things!

As the morning sun streams in, Lucy waits patiently in the kitchen doorway for a breakfast morsel. She will sit as long as it takes, inching closer as her patience wears thin. Such hope lies in those eyes… By the way, Lucy sends well wishes to her friend, YogaforCynics, who’s been feeling under the weather.

Unlike the vinca blossom here that was photographed in morning sun, this one was taken in a shady area in front of the house. Having spent a good deal of time on my belly, crawling around with who-knows-what, I ended up eye-to-eye with this vinca blossom. She seems to be extending her petal, saying, “Howdy do! Welcome to the garden!” Then again, maybe the message is, “You and the camera…get outta here.”

Of all the beautiful skies, why in the world would I choose this one, littered with rush-hour traffic and townhomes? Well, I saw an opportunity to show the Clark House in Annandale, Virginia (the house on the left) as I had described it here. The house, the trees, the sky…they are all so beautiful. It is the traffic and townhomes that are out of place… Don’t care for rush-hour traffic? Then go to SkyWatch Friday and find skies from all over the world! While you’re there, why not leave a link to your own skies so all can enjoy? Thanks to Lana over at The Dreaming Tree for turning me on to SkyWatch Friday. |
