Lucy’s new lookout isn’t really new anymore. She’s become quite nimble at maneuvering the spiral staircase and I swear she must climb these steps a zillion times a day now. Here she poses in what W calls the “go-go cage.”
This is her look when she hears new words or hears the inflection of a question. With each remark she swings her head in the opposite direction, trying to decipher our—okay, my—jabber. She is such a smart girl. I can tell from the look in her eyes that she’s trying to understand, but living with two humans, she just doesn’t have a lot to work with.
Actually, I learn more from Lucy than she learns from me. I just need to heed her teachins’…

I love it! Such a sweet, inquisitive girl in her snowy perch….

Lucy is smart and I love how you captured the look on her face in this photo. All dogs are clever. They have to live with the frustration of trying to teach us dull witted humans our lessons over and over again before we get it. :)

Thanks drjay,
Lucy would like that! The weather has been so nice today that she’s either been on those steps or the patio all afternoon. Much better than hangin’ out in a stuffy old house!

Hi TT,
Oh my gosh…haven’t “talked” with you for so long! I must visit. Hope that all is well with you. I’m guessin’ you might be getting ready for a spring festival of some sort?
Thanks and Lucy thanks you for the compliment. I think you’re right TT…the poor creatures tolerate us no matter what, which is a lot more than can be said about us humans, who can be sooo intolerant…
that is a sweet picture.

She looks like a very intelligent girl, and very cute in her staircase. Dogs are so much fun and such good companionship.

That’s a great shot. Years ago I lived in a house with a spiral staircase to the living area (above the garages.) I raised a husky puppy there. After that, he could never walk a regular flight of stairs. It was kind of funny & pathetic at the same time. He used to sit at the top of the stairs like Lucy is here, with his front paws on the step beneath, looking out the window in the stairwell. He was such a great dog…15 years later I still miss him. <:(

Thanks Koe…Lucy appreciates the compliment!

Thanks Janie of Utah. Yes, dogs are just all-’round perfect in my book!

Thanks Lana. Your husky sounds so sweet. I don’t think it matters how long it’s been since you’ve lost a pet, whenever you think back about their antics, it still hurts. After Emma we weren’t sure if we’d ever have another dog…lo and behold…

Hi and thanks Shinade. Oooh, I’m all excited now…have to come see! :o)
Gosh, she’s such a beautiful dog and you’ve captured that beauty with this photo. I love how she has her head cocked to one side. So sweet! Thanks for sharing.

Hi Holly,
Another great photo of Lucy. That “What are you doing?” look on her face is brilliant.
I’m still spending time stalking the cats around in an attempt to get better pictures but, as you can imagine, they do not want to play. When they finally DO lie down they stare at me in a totally boring way.
I feel another cat post coming on – “Cats and Cameras don’t mix”.
:-)
Cheers

Thanks Michelle. I think I read somewhere that border collies have that characteristic of cocking their heads (of which she’s part). It sure makes for an interesting look!

Thanks Chuck. Lucy appreciates the compliment!

Thanks Chrissy. I guess it’s because she’s still young and hasn’t heard all of our jabberings yet. It is really funny how new words make her perk up.

Hi PM and thanks. I can imagine that kitties may be a little harder to work with, but then I’m thinking about the stereotype of cats, being aloof and all. I look forward to the new post and am hoping you can catch them off-guard for some pics. :o) Now, apprehensive and all scared and stuff, I move on to your Vampires post… :o|
OMG I love it when dogs do that. Ours do the head tilt when we say “puppy daycare”. lol

Thanks megscole64. Yes, I love that quality too. They just look so “smart” when they do that…of course, they are smart… ;o)
