This was taken at Ben Brenman Park in Alexandria, Virginia.
Growing up, I remember the property on which the park sits as Cameron Station, the army base—it is now Cameron Station, a planned community. Designed as a tribute to the styles of 18th and 19th century American architecture, it is reminiscent of Old Town Alexandria, located just a few miles east.
The larger park includes one of Lucy’s favorite dog parks and is the setting for some of my other “skies.”

I love the brooding sky; it has character!
And I like your composition with so much sky in the picture.

Thanks, Linda. I like brooding skies, too. Don’t mind them at all!
Thanks, Ms Hays. Yes, it’s a nice change from blue skies and white clouds!
I see a hole up there, in the clouds! Perhaps the sky isn’t completely foreboding. ;) Nice shot!

Large hanging clouds of Virginia! Lovely shot!
I liked those fountains too.

Thanks Lana. Yup, a hole in the canopy! Actually, I don’t remember how the day turned out…sunny or rainy. :o|
Thanks Indrani. Yes, I noticed those fountains running long into winter. Luckily it hasn’t been cold enough for them to freeze!
Thanks Grammy. It looks surreal to me…
What´s wrong with grey, brooding and menacing! Absolutely nothing! Nice fountains too. There is a bird shaped hole in the clouds, probably left by a very large bird?

Oh, my, I know exactly where this is! Thanks for the description. I grew up outside of Alexandria, went to high school at Groveton which is now gone. I used to take the bus into Olde Towne for fun as teenagers.
Small world isn’t it?
Great SWF pic!

Hi chrome3d. I didn’t notice the bird-shaped hole, but it sure is…that’s pretty observant! I wish I could find some nice animal-shaped clouds…there must be a blog on that somewhere! :o)
Hi mountain.mama. How cool that you are from this area…even more cool you’re in Utah! We were there a few years ago when driving cross-country and I loved it…prettiest landscape I’d ever seen…love those red rocks! BTW, did you happen to know a teacher at Groveton by the name of Loveless? I grew up in the Rosemont area, a few blocks from the Masonic Temple. :o)
Thanks Chrissy. But your sunsets are so beautiful! Okay, maybe do a gray sky now and then, but your colorful skies are hard to beat! :o)
Great massing clouds and the two fountains playing like white crests on the sea.
