Here is an eastern Kentucky sunset taken during the holidays. I love contrasts so I like the craggy tree against the pastel sky, but I’m at odds with that telephone line. Nope, don’t like it.

Thanks to Lana over at The Dreaming Tree for turning me on to SkyWatch Friday.

The tree gives it a sense of foreboding, but also ties the sky to the ground. And I like the balance of lighted terrain at the horizon in comparison to darkened sillohuette at the foreground.

The tree creates a lot of atmosphere here. It couldn´t be more craggy.

Great Winter sky. I like the contrast between the bare tree and the softness of the sky..

Love this shot. The tree is really neat in front of that sky.

Thanks to you I discovered SkyWatch! What a beautiful tree, and don’t worry about the wire. If you had cropped it, you would have lost a great deal of the picture. In my immediate neighborhood I have wires everywhere so I will need to be creative for any more sky pics.

I love it, it looks very serene and pretty. We have some great photo opportunites near to the house but the cables REALLY annoy me! I am started to photoshop them out! Either that or ring the planning department, LOL

Beautiful….trying to get scenic views….with no rooftops or power lines are getting harder and harder to capture ..

Nice SkyWatch photo! I hear you on the telephone wire, though. Not that I mind it so much here, but when I take nature shots, I prefer to keep anything mad-made out of them.
Sorry for my long, recent absence. I’ve been busy with offline life. Best to you & yours in 2009!

I fully agree, I too have a thing about wires in the sky, otherwise a lovely shot.

Nice sky and I like the craggy tree contrast. Aren’t wires a pain?
Welcome to 2009!

Thanks, Robert. Glad you liked it. Thank you for not mentioning the telephone line!
Hi chrome3d. I love craggy…the craggier, the better.
Connie, thanks for coming by.
Thanks, Angela. Yes, that’s exactly what I like best about it.
Hi Amy, thanks for coming by.
Thanks much, Juliet. I’ll swing by your place soon…it’s been awhile!
Thanks Indrani, glad you like it.
Thanks, soulbrush. I’m kind of hoping for some nice snow or ice to photograph.
Hi kden. Yes, that’s exactly why I didn’t attempt to crop…I like that tree down there in the corner!
Hi Chrissy. Wow, I didn’t think about Photoshop. I’ve never used it but that’s nice to know. Thanks!
Hi skp. You’re right…and this was taken out in the middle of nowhere, but the few who do live in the area have phone service. How dare they! :o)
Hi Lana and thanks for coming by. No need to apologize. I think many of us have other things taking us away from our blogs this time of year.
Thanks, esnorway and happy New Year to you!
Thanks, dowhatyoulove, for coming by!
Thanks, Arija. I think the only time I like lines is if there are birds roosting there.
Thanks, Geogypsy. Yes they are a pain…but a fellow blogger suggests Photoshop!
Lovely mood you captured. I like the craggy trees, too. Those branches have such character! (If you don’t want the telephone wire in, you can crop a little bit off the right side of the photo and it would still be a beautiful shot.)

Hi GeL and thanks. Yeah, I thought about cropping, but there’s that feathery tree down there in the corner and I didn’t want to lose it. Next time I’ll just have to pay more attention to my aim!
Love your craggy tree. It was meant to be photographed in front of nice skies!
