Although Lucy’s usual lookout is on the side of the hill in our backyard, this seems to be her newfound favorite.
Yesterday we found her perched here, where she has a bird’s eye view straight through the porch and into the kitchen. From this vantage point she can keep an eye on us as well as the status of the dreaded harness that she knows hangs on the other side of the kitchen door. I don’t know where we went wrong with her upbringing, but she won’t come near us when it’s time for her walk and we need to put that thing on. As soon as she’s caught and buckled in, she’s normal again and ready to go. ‘Tis one of her few “issues.”
Here she eyes me nervously wondering if I have the harness, but soon realizes that I only have the camera, the lesser of the two evils.

I have a bad habit of snapping pictures when I’m driving. I know, I know. But see the red light? I was stopped…
This was taken as I was driving up 12th St., just past Pennsylvania Ave., in Washington, DC. I like the “V” and the reflection of the clouds in the building’s windows.

I like the simplicity of this. The weathered boards against the bright blue sky. The bit of sky showing through the window. The small piece of chimney peeking around the corner.
This is actually another angle of the same building that I posted back in November. It was taken at Simonson on Virginia’s Northern Neck.
Some blue sky for those who are tired of gray! :o)

I am a HUGE fan of Chuck and Coco over at dooce.com, so I thought I’d try something with Lucy for Chinese New Year similar to Chuck’s holiday photo. Nothing this drastic, mind you, but the excessiveness of Chuck’s “trimmings” shows the extent of his tolerance. It’s amazing. In comparison, Lucy doesn’t get the “dress up” thing and wonders “Why are you setting ‘chewables’ on my body?” I took many photos just to get a clear shot of Lucy with the Chinese trinket made by my mother-in-law (the intricacies of these ornaments that she makes from thread, ribbon and beads are amazing). After countless times of draping it over Lucy’s head and ears and then crying “Leave it!” or “Stay!” she all but ate the prop and then grew tired, probably wondering why every year isn’t the Year of the Dog…she still sends Chinese New Year wishes your way, though!
Oh, W is in New York celebrating the holiday with his family, so I may possibly be enjoying these tomorrow when he returns. Yay! I cheer his return, of course, and not the arrival of sponge cakes… ;o)
