This is what I saw as I looked out the backdoor first thing this morning. There was a bright blue sky giving way to a bank of thick, white clouds that morphed into a dark, brooding hue. The whole mix of weather “emotions” was washed with light from the rising sun.
Today, on the last day of 2008, this reflects how I am feeling. Having just returned a few days ago from the Christmas holiday, I am coming off of an emotional low…crawling out from under a heavy blanket of angst that has smothered me for the past month. My blue sky is slowly returning, though, and the cast of sunlight reminds me to focus on the “big picture” where all is rather beautiful.
A happy and prosperous New Year to all…

To you too, I am sorry you have felt that way, you didn’t share? I have soo enjoyed becoming a blogging friend, Happy New Year Holly, I wish you all the very best and I hope we continue to grow in 2009 :D

Oh my dear friend, I am deeply touched by your honesty here. I think we all go through this at various times. What touched me was that you shared it here. I am deeply honored by that. And I find this photo sooooooo elegantly beautiful. All your photos are incredibly beautiful. I love the new banner at the top. It is just MAGICAL with them all joined together like that. It’s a profusion of abundant Life….just like you and your photos. I think the more open a person is to life the more they FEEL such a rich mix of emotions. For me it is a sign that someone is very alive. I know that it is not always easy but it makes for a deeply lived life. Thank you for all the times you have touched my heart and expanded my feelings and mind with your thoughts and photos. I wish you a well lived New Year filled with love, laughter and creativity. Hugs, Robin

Thanks, Chrissy. Your blog art inspires me for the New Year!
Hi Robin. Thank you for the kind comment and so glad that you like the photos. I sort of like the new banner but not sure of my picks…some may change. Have a happy New Year’s Eve!
Thanks, Svasti. I’m sure the sky will be blue…I’ll make it blue! Happy 2009! :o)
I love your photographs! And I like the idea of SkyWatch Fridays. I may have to incorporate that into my blog. I’d like to see Lucy in our snow ;-)

Thanks for the compliment, kden. Yes, SkyWatch would love to have you share your skies. And Lucy would looove your snow…I bet Nellie has a blast!
Thanks for commenting on my blog. Been checking out yours…VERY Nice!
New Years hugs to you and Miss Lucy!

Lovely shot. Today the skies here were blue with huge puffy clouds whooshing by due to a wind advisory.
That big thunk of emotions often hits after a holiday trip. I feel for you and hope some personal hibernation will restore your vitality soon. Meanwhile, pamper yourself with comfy cozy homey me-time or do-nothing time. The holidays can zap one’s energy. Thinking of you with best wishes for a new year laden with happiness and good health.
Your blog is a friendly place I will be visiting frequently in 2009.

I tell you what Holly, as I said in reply to your comment on my “hobby” blog, I think you take some great photos and I’m surprised that you claim to be just a “point and click” person. You seem to have an eye for a good picture. I shall definitely heed your advice and try my hand at photography as well (though I imagine my efforts will be nowhere near as good as yours). Sorry to hear you are feeling a little down in the dumps – I usually feel the same in January and February but try to inject a little fun into these dark months by dressing up as a dog and scaring the local cats! I was arrested for that last year …
:-)
Have a fab 2009 and keep taking those great photos.
Cheers

You’re quite welcome, Kathleen. And a happy and healthy New Year to you and Cloud! Lucy sends a “woof!”
Thanks, GeL. Do you happen to live in the DC area? Your description of yesterday’s weather is exactly as was ours…40-60 mph gusts, I believe. And thank you for the kind comments…I’m much better now that I’m home…away from the drama. I’ll be swinging by your place, too!

Holly – Thank you for all your comments on my site. . . I am sorry to read that you’re coming off an emotional low. The holiday season and the short days can be pretty challenging. I hop that you have a happy and healthy 20+09.

I certainly know that heavy blanket of angst…though a five mellow days by the ocean helped a lot with mine….
But Holly…darlin’…you left a comment on my blog about enjoying reading it… in the past tense….
Tell me you’re not leaving the blogosphere and your devoted readers?

Happy New Year, PM, and thank you for your kind comments.
Okay, I admit that I aim before I click, but then just hope for the best. I find myself trying to replicate the style of photography on other blogs I like, but that only helps so much and it doesn’t always work. I really need to search Google and learn some technique. I think it’s great that you’re considering photography and I bet you’ll be great…I look forward to photos of your Manchester!
Dressing up to scare the cats, huh? Well now Lucy’s jealous and wants to dress as a cat to scare the squirrels. I told her that her dog costume will just have to do! :o)

Hi Andy. Thank you and I’ll be fine…just too much family drama recently. A happy and healthy 2009 to you and Mel! :o)
Hi Koe. Thanks much for your sentiments. Looking back I’m afraid my post was a bit of a downer and I think I should’ve ended on a lighter note. I need to learn to temper my “venting” for the sake of my readers! A happy 2009 to you, too! :O)
Thanks, Erik. I’m glad this gave you a positive feeling! :o)

Hi there drjay…
Your ocean time sounds like just what the doctor ordered…and hey, since you’re a doc, perfect! It sounds like an excellent way to recover from the holidays!
Oops…I meant “I’ve enjoyed reading your blog these past few months but I’ll be back to read it in 2009 after you’ve returned from the beach all mellowed out and shit! Ahem, devoted readers? I’ve got devoted readers? Yay! There is a Santa! :o)

I took my time getting around to read this one didn’t I? I feel lousy for not having dropped by to read this and give you a virtual hug till now. I hope that whatever happened to cloud your skies is gone and over the horizon. Holidays are lousy for stirring up painful things, but life is like the weather, it may be pissing on you today but tomorrow there could be sun (oh holy crap just be grateful I’m not singing “Over the Rainbow” or that song from little Orphan Annie at this point). Please forgive my cheesiness and accept this great big fat hug. xxx
Bird´s last blog post..Deep Freeze

Oh, Bird, please don’t feel bad. You (and others) shouldn’t have to deal with the sort of blubbering in that post. I appreciated each and every comment, but at the same time they made me feel (at my prompting, mind you) a little uneasy, actually overly dramatic and needy, the same aura of those that brought on my bad feelings in the first place. When I went back a few days later and re-read my post, I thought, oh my gosh, how awful that sounds! Although I actually did feel the way I described, I didn’t like the way it went across and really should’ve tempered my description with humor, a lighter note, something! Poor readers! :o(
Thank you for commenting on this, Bird, as you made me realize exactly why I was uncomfortable with this post and how I should remedy it in future rants!
And I’ll take a verse of “Over the Rainbow,” the cheesiness and big fat hug anyway! hugs back!
