Lucy sits at one of her favorite spots—on the side of the hill in our backyard, beside a giant oak. From this vantage point she can keep a close eye on birds, squirrels and her neighborhood buds as well as foxes, racoons and an occasional deer.
We live only yards from a busy pike in a heavily populated area, yet, twice I have seen from our living room window deer standing in the middle of the street. How nice to see them practically in our front yard, except that this only means that development has shrunken their habitat, and they are driven into whatever wooded areas they can find, usually in neighborhoods surrounded by heavy traffic.

Lucy gets a real ‘domain’ to ‘rule’ over and protect. I love it!
Gorgeous old oak tree smothered in leaves too…

Lucy is the queen.
My dog would spend hours chasing squirrels.
It never catches any but she loves the chase!

Wow – Holly. Looks like you live in a really nice place.
I like Lucy’s throne. She seems to be the queen of all she surveys.
Take care

Hi Svasti…yes, she is quite the princess and definitely rules in the backyard, as well as in the house!
Hi Buburuza…yes, princess, queen, they’re all quite fitting for her highness!
Hi Buddhaofhollywood…Lucy also loves those squirrels…sometimes she just stalks and doesn’t actually go after them. I think she’s learned that it’s not as easy as it looks to catch one!
Hi PM…thanks. We’re in a small 60-year-old neighborhood (with a 60-year-old house!) that’s heavily wooded with these nice old trees, so it is nice in that respect. But, from our yard we can hear the constant hum of traffic and I can see shopping mall lights from my window. Ugh. Way too much development here.
L-U-C-Y! I see you!
