Lately on our walks I’ve been hurriedly skimming my surroundings, lagging behind W. and Lucy as I try to snap the remnants of autumn before the wind and rain destroy all that’s vibrant for yet another year. My photographs will soon be bound by stark, branchy landscapes and milky skies, but I’m okay with that and am actually looking forward to the change. I see just as much beauty in a cold, barren winter as in a budding spring, leafy summer or colorful fall. Mother Earth never lets me down as there is beauty in all that she designs.
I have plenty of fall foliage yet to show, but I favor the fallen leaves. Their colors are beautiful as well as the arrangements in which they fall.
As someone who always reads much into everything, I will say that this is a sign that despite our differences, we will come together. Sounds good to me!

Simple and beautiful :)
Although it causes destruction, my favorite thing to look forward to in winter is a nice ice storm.

Thanks Coca, my thought exactly!
I agree Trent. Although it’s usually admired from the safety of my cold, dark home!
Awwwww…that’s sweet, that picture. Like an old couple who’ve decided to go out together.
The backdrop is great, and the tiny droplets of water seem to breathe life into the leaf again.
I agree with Lana. . . I guess because I’ve had a (half-past) romeo and an (accidental) juliet on my mind lately. . . that I see what Lana does. . . a couple (is it romeo that is red, and juliet yellow?) out for a walk. The other leaves, just off the frame. . . add some intrigue as well.

Lana, see Koe’s comment…you two are onto something. A “couple” never crossed my mind, but I like it!
Sadia, yes I liked the fact that one leaf was dry and the other rain-speckled. Maybe it’s the contrasts I liked.
Koe, your romeo & juliet comment intrigues me…might there be a future post of this? :o) I would agree juliet is yellow, fully equipped with tears and romeo is red…maybe fiery?
It’s has been many years since I rolled around in piles of fallen leaves. Their attractive lure was all I needed to launch my small body on their beautiful mounds. One day, I landed on something other than their comfort. In light of this, I found it a hurtful and hard lesson to learn. I made certain in future, to first check the pile for any alien objects. This also reminds me about the bits of broken crackly colors imbedded in my sweater, cotton tops and slacks. Later there was the lingering earthy scent which clung on my clothes and hair to be witness of my romp in the autumn leaves. :)

Yes, I remember diving into piles of leaves but luckily no mishaps. Now I just watch Lucy dive into them among other things…don’t ask! I also like the smell of dried leaves.
Your comment is nice and descriptive…post worthy! :o)
“I will say that this is a sign that despite our differences, we will come together.” For some reason, when I saw the photo with this sentence, I could only think of my country (U.S.) with a president-elect, moving forward in peace and compassion.
Then I read all of the comments of Romeo and Juliet and thought, man! I didn’t see that at all, I must be old!
Off to hug my husband!

I thought the same Lucy. It’s interesting to see the photo through different people’s eyes. I must be old too but I’d rather think we just see the bigger picture! Yeah, let’s go with that!

This is lovely and simple. I love how you see the small things! Stuff like this is worthy of hours of thought and yet another person would have stepped on it, swept it away, never even seen it at all.

Thank you so much Bird—your comment is so eloquent and kind!
Yes, the symmetry of these leaves just jumped out at me…they just begged to be snapped…and I obliged, much to the despair of poor Lucy who was anxious to chase the next squirrel!
I love this photo very much. Love the embrace, the fact that they are different colors, that they seem like they’re entwined in a dance. Just beautiful! And how amazing that you captured it, right in that moment!

Thanks, Mary…glad you like it. I also loved the design of the two. They were lying there begging to be snapped!
