Every morning we’re up and out, bright and early for Lucy’s first jaunt of the day. Pups love a routine and the a.m. and p.m. walks top Lucy’s must-haves. A few of her (and our) favorite outings consist of a well-wooded county park complete with fenced dog park, a beautifully flowered garden park full of Virginia native plants and Old Town Alexandria—fancied by W and me for its historic quaintness and by Lucy for its morsel-strewn waterfront and fishy breezes that waft from the Potomac River. We also enjoy some neighborhood walks that come in handy when time is short or the gas tank is empty.
The following were taken on one such neighborhood walk, aka the “lake walk.” Lucy is hamming it up on the private beach in the lake walk community…private meaning we have no business there because (a) we haven’t paid the HOA dues (HOA=”home owners association” for those lucky enough to have never heard of it.) and (b) we haven’t paid the HOA dues because…we’re not residents…oops! But Lucy always insists on a shortcut through the beach area despite the “no dogs allowed” sign, so until she learns to read, we’ll continue to be the scofflaws we are and enjoy the forbidden beach, if for only a few minutes on the morning jaunt.

Great pics. As Woody Guthrie sang “As I went walking, I saw a sign there; And on the sign there, it said, ‘No Trespassing.’ But on the other side; it didn’t say nothing! That side was made for you and me.” Clearly, Lucy’s a fan….
What a beautiful dog!!! Looks like she has a sweet spirit too. Thank you for sharing . . .
Yoga,
Thanks for the pic compliment and your rendition is great!
Earth Shepherd,
Thanks for the kind words. Yes, she has a very sweet spirit. She goes to anyone!
Looks like Beach One, to me. Incredible. The beach I referred to was Beach Five. But this one was especially romantic for me and my high school crush. In fact he and his family lived (with your back to the lake) to the left and up the hill, on the right. Memories. I like this photo and I love your Lucy!

That is so cool! Yes, Beach One. I know exactly where your friend lived…that road loops around and comes back to the beach. Lucy says “woof” to the compliment!
